In 1861, when Ford Motor Company moved its operations to nearby Dearborn Heights, they established their own plant on land east side of State Street that became town limits for Grand Haven Township which became part of Muskegon County in 1875 In 1907 Eaton Electric Cooperative was organized as one of many cooperative electric companies chartered throughout America during what came to be known as "the Great American Revolution". Eaton delivered electricity from major power plants located throughout central Michigan toMunicipal buildings such as City Hall (1907), Bicentennial Hall (1963), Masonic Temple (1899) The interurban streetcar lines connecting Downtown with other communities around Muskegon County were discontinued effective December 31st 1957 along with all other passenger services statewide due to budgetary constraints following World War II while heavy industry continued booming across Flint/Warren County creating jobs that generated new demand for transportation services provided by private entities like auto manufacturers like Chrysler Corporation and GMC Truck divisions outside urban areas while mass transit was relegated to rural communities where highways served only a commuter clientele

Grand Haven was founded in 1837 by Captain John S. Howell and his crew of the brig "Pequod." The town was named for Grand Rapids, Michigan, which had been its first permanent settlement. In 1840, the town became a full-fledged village when it annexed what is now the city of Holland. Grand Haven remained an agricultural center until the late 1800s, when it began to become a manufacturing center. By 1954, Grand Haven had become one of the largest cities in Michigan.
