It is the second most populous city in Kalamazoo County after Battle Creek and home to many large manufacturing plants that have left an impact on local economy and culture. Grand Haven has a rich history dating back to 1836 when it was founded as an agricultural outpost on the upperKalamazoo River by fur traders from Whatcom County, Washington.
