Fraser is a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. The name Fraser comes from the Cree word "Freljord" meaning "peninsula." Fraser is located on the eastern edge of what is now Huron County and was part of Traverse City until it became its own county in 1907. The first settler in what is now Fraser County was George Hildebrandt who arrived there in 1837. In 1853, James Wolkert settled there and began plowing land that would later become known as the Wolkerts Place farmstead. In 1872, John Caird bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land just east of present-day Fraser and named it after his father-in-law, Alexander McKay. A post office was established at Fraser in 1874, and remained open until 1903. In 1907, Traverse City merged with Kalamazoo to form one large city center under the leadership of Mayor Augustus Kelley. When Kalamazoo lost its charter status within Michigan in 1912 due to some financial irregularities, it lost all its municipal powers except for carrying out stateuch laws. Highway 9 passed through town center which led to an influx of people looking for a job outside city limits which caused businesses to close down and made life difficult for residents who were forced to rely on public transportation or walk their dogs around town center. This problem wasn't solved until 1959 when a new bypass road was built that cut through town center eliminating much of the need for walking (and making commuting easier). In 2000, much progress was made when voters approved a proposition allowing for annexation by Jackson Township because they felt that Fraser had not been given enough attention by city officials over the years; this allowed Fraser's mayor to annex more land into Jackson Township than he ever thought possible without any input from residents or consent from those living adjacent to the village boundaries. This has lead to some problems such as traffic congestion within village boundaries as vehicles trying to enter or leave are stopped by police officers at intersections leading into/out of town center while motorists trying to get around this rule have hadTo reduce speed limit on major arterial streets leading into/out of town center as well as increased use during rush hour when local buses can’t move fast enough due to limited space

However, despite these setbacks, overall life expectancy for all citizens peaked at around 78 years between 1962-1970 (according to census data). This is still one of the highest life expectancies recorded anywhere in America outside of Japan or Iceland! Over time however certain aspects such as economic decline have led to large population losses - most notably with respect to jobs that once supported local businesses but now are outsourced or require high levels of skill for new hires outside of the area Today there are few if any active businesses located within the old village boundaries which has led to a significant decline since 2000 when development began anew adjacent to I-94 providing both retail space and housing opportunities However even with these challenges there are pockets of vibrant community life existing throughout much of what once was known as “theVillage” thanks largely to initiatives spearheaded by recent mayors including current Mayor Jeff Cowan who took office upon taking office following term limits set by previous mayor Rick Schreckenbach This paper will focus specifically on two key aspects associated with Frasers long history – its architecture/designs which continue up through various incarnations while also paying close attention to events that shaped how this community functions both historically & contemporarily First we will look at how Frasers architecture has evolved over time while also considering some key examples involving iconic structures like The Market House which served as headquarters for several small villages before moving into its current incarnation next door beginning in 1908 . Second we will take a closer look at some more recent examples highlighting how developments nearby have impacted what remains today including mixed use projects occupying entire blocks adjacent directly onto I-94 while also incorporating heritage buildings contributing significantly towards formulating plans contemporary with those seen today
