Tasers have been used in Flint, Michigan for over thirty years. In 1984, the city of Flint petitioned the United States Congress to approve a purchase of taser guns. The decision was made to purchase 2,000 new taser guns and use them as part of a Law Enforcement program. Since then, tasers have become an integral part of law enforcement in Flint and throughout the country. The first application for a license to use a taser was filed by the City of Flint on October 17th, 1987. The first deployment of a Taser took place on November 3rd, 1987 when police responded to reports of an altercation between two males at the intersection of Grand Boulevard and John L. Lewis Drive. After using their Tasers on both men, officers were able to resolve the dispute without further incident. In 1990, political corruption charges were brought against Mayor Coleman Young and several members of his administration after it was discovered that they had accepted bribes from firearms dealers in order to obtain preferential treatment from state government officials during construction projects outside of Flint. This led to the termination of many key city employees including Police Chief Stephen Jaffe and Deputy Chief Roy Johnson who were accusedOf accepting bribes from individuals connected with firearms dealers in exchange for favorabletreatment from state officials. As a result Of these accusations Against Mayor Young and his administration, federal agents began investigating municipal governments across America in an effort To bring similar indictments against corrupt officials nationwide . In 1992-1994 three mayors within Michigan’s largest city (Detroit) were convicted On conspiracy charges related To bribery allegations made against them while they held office And although their cases did not come closeTo bringing prosecutionsagainst nationally elected officials involved With firearms sales Within their cities These events served as public demonstrationsAgainstcorruption within local government organizations throughout America Aftermath: Although this experience left many questions unanswered about how such widespread Corruption could take place Within municipalities governmental organizations Despite these serious consequences For individual officers involved With law enforcement In Flint It also createdThe groundworkFor future programs which would allow officers To utilize electronic devices Which record interactions with suspects

On July 6th, 2017, California announced that it would begin using tasers in its police departments effective January 1st, 2018

The history of tasers dates back to the early 1800s when firearms were used in law enforcement. A small battery powered stun gun was developed in 1868 by Dr. George Stephenson and others at a Patent Office in London, England. The weapon consisted of an electric shock device that was worn around the waist and could be discharged by pressing a button on the butt of the weapon. It was not until 1879 that this technology was licensed to Colt Firearms Co., who made it available for use with handguns. In 1903, a Taser Gun company, Incorporated, was created in Colorado Springs, CO to produce these weapons. This company continued production until 1948 when it merged with Police Electric Weapons Company (PEWCO). Since then Taser Guns has produced over 50 different models of tasers which have been sold worldwide to police and other governmental entities.

Flint, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and is the seat of Oakland County. The population was 757 at the 2010 census. Flint became an American city on July 1, 1887, when it was incorporated as a village by the merger of two other villages: Flushing and Unionville. Flint's economic history goes back to 1834, when the United States Government acquired land in what is now Flint for the construction of Fort Wayne Arsenal and Civil War supply depot. The first settlement near what is now downtown Flint was called "The Landing." In 1836, Michiganders James Fenton and John McLaren built a tavern on Brush Road (later renamed McKnight Boulevard) serving soldiers stationed at Fort Wayne. This early settlement was abandoned in 1840 due to Native American threats to Turner Lake. A new settlements began around Brush Road in 1845-46 led by Solomon Northrop and Ebenezer Morse with four homes: Northrop's House #1, Morse's House #2, Northrop's House #3 and Post Office Building #1 (now part of University Avenue). By 1850 there were twelve dwellings in all; three were used for government troops garrisoning Fort Wayne while seven were used by civilians for farming and trade purposes including one house that held a courthouse meeting room from 1860 to 1862 The first post office opened in October 1850 at West Indian School Rd., just east of present day State Street between Queenston Avenue NW and Woodward Avenue NW which served both rural residents as well as military personnel stationed at Fort Wayne In 1861 Governor Winfield Scott ordered General David Dixon to move all U.S government cash storage from New York City into Detroit so that printing operations could be moved from press buildings located on Dearborn Heights across River Rouge into Detroit proper where they would remain until 1865 In 1865, after New York City burned during the American Civil War following its Battle of Armageddon it became necessary for commanders throughout America to keep significant amounts of food stored aboard warships off Vera Cruz California until relieved by naval forces under Admiral William T Sherman during his March through Mexico campaign In order to avoid any potential revolts among contraband traders operating along these waters authorities created regulations limiting transportation rates within each state etc... this resulted in increased competition for water rights leading directly to White City Creek becoming known as “The Great Lakes Ports” due to its connection waterways/ports having greater influence than individual states etc... finally control over this body passed from Canada thru Middle Eastern interests thru Purchase & concurrence with Northwestern Indiana & Illinois interests via railroad expansion resulting in major business developments soon followed including development of Flint light Co., Genesee Brewing Company (1895), Phelps Dodge Iron Works (1910), Motor Boat Builders Incorporated 1903-1914 (renamed Polymer Corporation 1923), Mack Truck Company 1919-1920s(renamed Mack Truck Parts 1945)& Ford Motor Company 1925-1935

In 1887, the town of Flint was founded by General Motors. The company built a factory there and employed many people. However, the factory burned in 1937 and the town lost its jobs.
