Flint, Michigan is home to the world's oldest continuously operating firearms factory and museum. The Flint Firearms Manufacturing Museum has been in operation since 1907. The factory also produced revolvers, pistols and shotguns. The handguns were made of steel and had a revolving cylinder that fired rounds. The first revolver manufactured in Flint was a Colt Model 1851 design. It was made from 1851 to 1861. The 1860-1865 revolvers were designed by George Biddle and were produced by the Flint Arsenal. In 1907, the company started producing rifles under the name of Browning Arms Company of America (BAC). In 1912, BAC became part of National Firearms Association which later became National Shooting Sports Foundation (.NSSF). Today, the Flint Firearms Manufacturing Museum offers visitors an insight into firearm history through exhibits on handguns (including replicas), rifles (including FN FALs and ARs), shotguns, armor piercing ammunition products such as shotty shells and slugs, clothing items such as pantsuit costumes worn during prohibition days or demonstrations on how to fire weapons using different types of ammunition

In 1831, Woodward & Company founded one hundred miles (160 km) of iron ore railway between Battle Creek and Superior which opened up new markets for Flint products such as whiskey and oilseed rape. In 1834–35, water arrived here from Lake Huron through a pipe built by Andrew Jackson that ran along present-day Live Oak Avenue south to Grand Rapids; this gave Flint its nickname "The Google City". By 1840, more than 85% of all production in Michigan came from Flint operations; total trade amounted to $24 million that year alone. It should also be noted that during this time period many other important industrial cities were coming into being such as Cleveland Heights–Lennoxville in Ohio[1] orgate Cityship Landing[2] in Buffalo New York[3], or Lansingburgh Junction Railroad Depot Train Station located just north of downtown Ann Arbor now known as Washtenaw Hills Golf Course[4]. The population growth led to development problems; flooding caused by minor rainstorms became common; increasing traffic congestion necessitated widened streets and more expensive infrastructure improvements such as sewers and water systems; inadequate housing developments resulted in high levels of poverty among its citizens generally clustered around downtown/the riverfront area where jobs were available but very low-income families resided (Slocum 1987). On December 17, 1991 City Council passed an ordinance creating emergency management authority to deal with public health concerns related to lead poisoning due to extensive contamination resulting from previous lead mining operations conducted by Ransom Copper Company adjacent to numerous residences/businesses near current day Third Ward neighborhood on east sideof river (Britten 2011).
