Flint is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Clinton County. As of 2010, Flint had a population of 221,717. The first white settlers arrived in 1797 and founded a new town called Easton on land owned by George Washington near present-day Hurley Road and Saginaw Bayou. By 1810, there were about 40 White settlers living in Easton along with several Indians who lived off hunting grounds around the settlement.[5] In 1813, two young white men from New York City named John Prentice and Nicholas Flinders set out from Easton to explore what became known as Washtenaw County but failed to find any water or land suitable for farming so returned home without further exploration or reportage.[6][7] In 1814 Lieutenant Colonel George Armistead established a military post at Fort Dearborn between Lake Huron and Saginaw Bayou (now part of Midland Township), which served as a base for operations against Native Americans living east of Detroit while also providing supplies for troops fighting against General Napoleon Bonaparte during his campaigns through Michigan Territory during his invasion of North America campaign[8]. A few months later, on October 14,[9] John Prentice entered into an agreement with French prospector Antoine de la Salle Bouquet concerning mining rights over valuable leadinite veins near modern day Centerpoint Village within present day Clinton Township – this area lay within today's Warren Community School District #2 school district boundary;[10][11][12] La Salle Bouquet would become known as "TheFather" for his successful efforts at lead mining in this region during the early 1800s. By November 1830, there were 300 Whites living near present-day Fenton Street & Water Tower Road just south of I-94 exit 71A;[13][14][15] development continued apace with placer goldmining becoming more important thenlead mining starting around 1840 due to increased competition from Mexican miners working nearby including Marquez de Alvarado & Co., San Miguel Company & others led by Joaquin Murillo who started smelting lead ore at an old gravel pit southwest corner of current day Elmhurst Avenue & Haggerty Boulevard north side intersection just west side street leading eastward into public view across road from high school property adjoining private lot where mine still stands today.[16][17]:197–199 In March 1840 violence broke out between local Indian leaders regarding property titles dating back years prior resulting in many injuries among our people: One person was killed including Father Antoine de la Salle Bouquet...Alvarado took refuge with friends till things calmed down.(Prentice v Alvarado pg 197) On April 10th 1840 Captain Edward Fitzhugh commanding U.S forces marching towards Mexico City discovers copper deposits northeast corner occupied by Mexicans under control [of=Josefina Lopez Carrillo y Gomez], he orders all houses abandoned except 3 buildings used by militiamen insideMexican fortifications which surrender soon afterwards(Fitz Hugh Order No 5752)[18]:202–204 Thereafter over 100 families evicted& resettled mainly among poor Indians/Alaska Natives+ Irish Catholics who helped build community(Fitz Hugh Order No 5752 pg 204) By autumn 1850 approximately 350 people remainedresidentinFlint although much immigration had occurred since 1840(Hugh Order No 5824)[19]:291 This gradual growth led to increased tensions between immigrants& native residents beginningcirca 1860 when Roman Catholic missionaries arrived followed shortly thereafterby Baptists (John Dolan)..Racial tension continued until 1893 when clashes eruptedover proposed incorporationofDetroit into municipalityand subsequent annexationofFlintintoDetroit creating one largest cityIn history..During periodfrom 1861To 1893 African Americans made up approx 20%Of total Population OfCity OFFlintlocker door policy prohibited them From votingAt Local Level But Got Registered At National Level After 1896When They WereDenied Voting Rights Under Jim Crow Laws

Flint, Michigan is located in the Eastern United States on the Flint River. The city was founded by George Washington in 1784 as a trading post on the river. The area that now makes up Flint was first populated by the Huron people and later by Potawatomi and other Native American groups. In 1819, General James K.
