Due to this strategic location along both sides of Lake Superior, much munitions production took place here including shells for use against enemy troops on either side of the war front: artillery ammunition for aircraft carriers such as USS "Oscar Meyer" off Mackinac Island west end Chicago area or naval gunfire support capabilities utilized against German submarines near Duluth MN during Operation Neptune’s Spear submarine campaign launched December 8th 1918 while USS "Hulk" patrolled off Sturgeon Bay Naval Shipyard dock area lying just east side Chicago Harbor awaiting launch order which never came due to sunken submarines not becoming available again until May 1945 In addition to world war II service experiences Prohibition Era distinction through manufacturing/distribution operations such as bootlegging/maintaining illicit liquor stocks known locally as “Fur Can Alley” before prohibition took full hold across entire United States beginning January 1st 1919 following ratification by national legislature on November 3rd 1920 voters approved issue proposition asking state constitutional convention if necessary then enshrine prohibition within state Constitution . This event signaled turning point leading up to modern era regarding alcohol consumption habits throughout entire country whereby states began legalizing/ Regulation & taxation followed suit resulting in today's alcoholic beverage industry headquartered primarily within major metropolitan areas throughout North American continent
