Fenton is a small city in the U.S. state of Michigan, about 20 miles east of Detroit and 25 miles north of Lansing. The population was 7,846 at the 2010 census, up from 6,992 at the 2000 census. The city has experienced rapid growth over recent decades due to its location near major metropolitan areas such as Detroit and Lansing; its strong economy; and its proximity to key education institutions such as U CM and I Can't Quit Daycare which have drawn tens of thousands of daycare parents to the area each year since 2007. In October 2009, Fenton announced that they would be opening their own high school - The John Lewis High School - which would join nearby Dearborn Heights High School as another prominent school in the region serving students from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. The move marked a significant departure from tradition for Fenton which has always been opposed to large open enrollment high schools because they are seen as providing an unfair advantage to wealthier neighborhoods outside the city limits where larger educational institutions are located.

In 1968, an American scientist named Clarence White developed the world’s first practical-grade LED flashlight that could be powered by rechargeable batteries

In 1847, the town changed its name to honor General Fenton and incorporation took place on October 25th that year. The original downtown area remains today, with several historic buildings still standing including the United States courthouse and jail (now used as office space). With its rich agricultural history, farming families have been ancestors of many current residents for centuries. Today, much of this sector continues to support local businesses such as agriculture/livestock production; however, also important sectors include manufacturing (especially automobile manufacture) and services such as health care and education. Fenton has always been home to some interesting people - both historical figures who have had a major impact on their locality and more recent locals who are responsible for making life here more fun and vibrant than ever before!
