However, despite these challenges new businesses have started up throughout the decades including KFC restaurant which opened up in 2000(9), Jamba Juice being founded here in 2006(10),and now Mastercard has an office located here as well giving hope that things will continue to grow (11). Although some aspects have changed over time such as zoning laws having been rewritten several times since then making it difficult for small businesses(12), overall much has remained constant about Fenton including its downtown area which still rivals any town or city within 100 miles radius(13), its rich history dating back more than 200 years((14)), its artesian wells providing water Supply directly to homes/businesses without being piped into larger reservoirs((15)), its wide variety of roads connecting different parts of town((16)), and most importantly its citizens who are always willing to help out their neighbor((17))

Fenton is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Fenton County. The population was 9,534 at the 2010 census, making it the ninth-smallest city in Michigan. It is part of the Detroit–Warren Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1836, itinerant preacher George Fenton founded a small town on land he had bought from John Wilkinson for $10 per acre (equivalent to $ ). He named it after his father, Caleb Fenton, who had died in 1835 while ministering in nearby Battle Creek. In 1840, when Caleb's son George moved to Fenton with his family, they began to grow crops and built a home near what is now downtown Fenton on what is today Elmwood Avenue. By 1849, there were 10 people living in Fenton; by 1861, there were 30 and by 1870 there was 40 – all farmers or fishermen/boatbuilders. The first post office opened in 1851; it was called "Caleb's Fork". A wagon road connected this community with East Lansing via Albion Township until about 1860 when that township became part of Lansing County and village boundaries changed again as a result. Fenton experienced rapid growth during the early 19th century due to its strategic location at the mouth of two important rivers: the Huron River and Lake Huron. By 1800, more than 100 homes had been erected on Main Street alone - many still standing today including some that are Castle Rock Estates development properties dating back to around 1900! The Commercial Canal also reached here soon after being completed from Mackinac Island across Lake Erie just upstream from downtown Detroit via an canal-bridge crossing over Big Branch creek near present day University Park (later known as Arbor Heights). This new trade route allowed goods needed for industrial production such as flour and cotton along with seafood items like prawns (fishing boats would bring up large quantities of these valuable sea creatures) directly into cities such as Detroit while providing avoidable transportation costs for cargo shipments between different parts of Lower Michigan! The late 19th century saw several waves of immigrants arrive here: Lithuanians in 1850 followed by Hungarians in 1875; Poles in 1880; Italians 1886; Irish 1888; Germans 1889-1890; Swedes 1895-1901 etcetera etcetera…….. As each wave arrived their cultures clashed with those already residing here before them – often resulting in violence or social upheaval which continues even today albeit hidden beneath polite society’s surface! It wasn’t until 1906 that local resident Harry Henschel persuaded then State Senator Augustus Norris to establish an Agricultural Experiment Station at what is now known as Norris Hall (now Old Main) on Belle Isle overlooking downtown Fenton granting opportunities for scientific study not only domestically but also abroad!! Work started immediately on improving soil fertility levels through dousing with waterINGS OF WATER ONLY! With increased access to technology thanks increasingly to railroad construction one can appreciate how significant this station actually was within our city’s evolution!! Sewage treatment facilities were added later but truly infrastructure expansions didn't really take off until well into into the 20th century………..until recently!!! Though rapidly growing during most earlier periods nearly everything herein mentioned transpired without any public official ever remarking much beyond “ahhmmm…..I don't remember that….uhhhmmm…”?!? Let us consider some key dates/events leading up thereto…………………..
