In 1875, Michigan’s first gun magazine was established in Fenton. The magazine was called the Western Rifleman and it served as a place for citizen shooters to gather information on firearms. In 1907, the Western Rifleman changed its name to The Flint Hills News and began publication from a building on East First Street in Flint Hills. From 1908 until 1923, the magazine was published by E.J. Brillinger and Sons of Detroit, who also published The Sporting Life. In 1924, the magazine merged with The Saturday Evening Post and continued publishing under that name until 1951 when it became known as Guns & Ammo issues only. The magazines that functioned in Fenton starting from 1875-1951 were instrumental in helping promote firearm safety among citizens and helping to provide information on firearms while providing an outlet for shooter’s creativity and innovation. With over 100 years of history behind them, gun mags are still playing an important role today in promoting responsible firearm ownership and community cohesion through education and cross-cultural exchange.

Fenton is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, on the west bank of the Ottawa River. The population was 20,815 at the 2010 census. Fenton was founded by George Fenton in 1810 as a small settlement on an Indian trade route through central Michigan and beyond to Canada. After General Anthony Wayne's Defeat at Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1813, Fenton became an important military outpost on the frontier and commercial center during the late 19th century; it was also known for its fruit orchards and cotton plantations. The arrival of railroads in the 1870s increased transportation opportunities and commerce, which led to a major revival of Fenton in the early 21st century as a bedroom community for Grand Rapids and Wyoming; however, much progress has been made since then to preserve its historic environment, including significant efforts to remove offensive graffiti from public buildings and replace abandoned homes with new structures that blend into their surroundings. George Fenton was born on October 25, 1786, in what is now Muskegon County, Michigan., near Detroit. He arrived here with his family from Rhode Island about 1800-1801 aboard USS "John Adams". In 1810 he built himself a cabin on land grant given him by Governor James Krieger along with other pioneers who arrived thereafter: John McGee (1788-1854), Isaac Cook (1789-1855), Caleb Dayton (1800-1874), Samuel Morse (1795-1847), Gideon Welles (1800-1859), Lewis Cass (1800-1865) and Nicholas Whitehead (1800-1792). The grant included 640 acres (), making it one of largest grants ever received by any American settler in this region (). In 1830 George married Lydia Ann Ballentine (); they had six children: Lydia Ann [sic], George Washington Ballentine Jr., Abigail Jane Ballentine [sic], Nathaniel Augustus Ballentine [sic], Martha Elizabeth Ballentine [sic],and . Lydia Ann died young when her son George WashingtonBallentine Jr., was killed fighting Mexican troops at Buena Vista Station while serving as adjutant general during Mexico's War for Independence; she is buried at Arlington National Cemetery east of Washington D.C.. Her husband succeeded her as head of their household after her death but never remarried.. Gun magazines have been around since the late 1800s. In 1892, the first commercially successful magazine was put together by a group of engineers at Winchester Ammunition in New Haven, Connecticut. The company’s patent for the manufacturing process for magazines allowed manufacturers to produce large quantities of ammunition quickly and with little effort on their part. In 1903, an editor at Grosse Pointe News wrote about how “gunslinger Dan” had managed to get his hands on a new rifle designed by John Browning that could fire over 130 rounds per minute. With this new technology, gunslingers were able to take down more powerful animals with ease than ever before. Magazine manufacture soon became popular amonggun enthusiasts as people were able to reload their firearms quickly and easily without having to go out into the field and collect ammunition. This technological advances allowed civilians to join in on gun ownership by purchasing rifles that could now be reloaded at home. By World War II, Japan had taken over much of East Asia and developed an expansive military presence there which saw handguns become more important than rifles in the conflict. Some of the earliest gun magazines were published in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. They were called "The Journal des Armes" and were dedicated to the publication of artillery pieces. In 1802, Pierre-André Turgot created the "Journal de l'Armée".
Fenton was first settled by the Potawatomi in 1810. The town was founded on the east bank of the Kawkawa River, about two miles north of its present location. In 1851, Fenton became a station on the Michigan Central Railroad. In 1872, it became a city and was named for General Lafayette Fenton, an American soldier who served in the Mexican-American War and as Commandant of the Indiana Militia during that time. The population of Fenton increased rapidly from its early years to over 2,500 by 1900. A central business district developed and streets were named for prominent citizens such as Judge Augustus Hutton and Mayor George Denny. A library was built in 1902 and annexed to City Hall in 1914. The People’s Democratic Party won control of Congress in 1924 before becoming part of Franklin D Roosevelt’s New Deal coalition that helped create World War II. Afterward, many residents moved away or left their jobs to enter into more advanced economies while others continued to live and work in town until its demise after the war ended. Today, only a few remnant families still live within city limits while most residents now commute to larger cities or towns nearby. Fenton is one of several small communities located along I-94 between Detroit and Grand Rapids that have been subjected to repeated vandalism attempts since 20071; these attacks are generally considered coordinated efforts by local gangs with ties to MS-132 although no arrests have ever been made resulting in any loss or damage beyond just some broken windows132 ( ). This vandalism has led some people to believe that organized crime may be involved3 ( ).
Fenton is a city in the Coos County, Oregon, United States. The population was 9,971 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland–Vancouver–Hillsboro, OR-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fenton was founded on October 8, 1847 by John Fenton and his family as a small farming community near present-day Hillsboro. The name came from an Adobe Creek settlement called Forton which had been established by Captain James Cook in 1792 during his exploration of Australia. The first post office was established in 1848, and the first store opened in 1850. In 1854, Fenton became the county seat of Coos County after it was moved from nearby Corvallis to its current location. In 1865, Fenton incorporated as a city under the terms of an act passed by the Oregon State Legislature. On May 15 of that year, Mayor A C Williamson delivered what is now known as "the opening remarks" for City Hall when it opened its doors for business for the first time. At that time there were no paved streets or sidewalks in Fenton; citizens walked or biked to their destinations all around town. Fenton's growth continued through the years with major expansions including a new fire station and library in 1907 and 1918 respectively; a sewage plant (); and finally (in 1985) completion of Interstate 5 across town making it one of only two cities located within commuting distance of both Portland and Seattle without any intervening countryside
