He also invented a way to fold up the eyeglasses so they could be stored easily. Ye He created the first true binocular, which he called the Yunnan-4, in 184 BC. By 1850, there were over 2,000 different types of binoculars available on the market. In 1875, president Ulysses S Grant issued an executive order ordering all American businesses to purchase 10 pairs of binoculars for use by employees at government offices. This order was later rescinded because it was felt that such a large purchase would not be affordable for most businesses. By 1910,binocular production had resumed on an industrial scale and some 9 million pairs of binoculars had been exported worldwide. Today,binocular production is still taking place on an industrial scale with over 120 companies producing various types of optics including Binocula glasses and spotting scopes

Fenton is a town in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren-Dearborn metropolitan area. Fenton was founded on July 3, 1837 by Col. George Paulding and his family as a small post office called "Paulton." The name comes from an Indian word meaning "place where many ducks gather." Fenton had its first store in 1847 and became a village in 1868 when it had a telephone system and sawmill. The original residents of Fenton were farmers who raised corn, hay, cattle, pigs, chickens and other animals for their own needs and for export to other parts of Michigan. The town began to grow when it became accessible to transportation by boat from Battle Creek due to the opening of the Battle Creek Canal in 1864. Today's shopping district started out as just a few homes around the Saw Mill River until development started along Gratiot Avenue in the early 1970s when then-Mayor Jack Wasson allowed for more commercial activity within walking distance of residential areas In 1952, Fenton welcomed its first black resident named Willie Dixon after he moved into a home on Gratiot Avenue from Rochester Hills with his wife Mamie Smith; Dixon would later become one of America's most successful blues singers In 1998, Fenton also celebrated its centennial year with an event that included street fairs and concerts throughout downtown In recent years much redevelopment has taken place taking advantage of new technology including digital signage which can be seen from miles away Today Fenton is one of Michigan's fastest growing towns with plans underway for even more growth including: an industrial park that will house thousands of jobs; updates to five locally run schools; construction of two new hospitals; and development surrounding FirstEnergy Stadium which will have major implications for both football games being played there as well as future events such as the Grand Prix Of Detroit

Fenton is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Fenton County. The population was 27,898 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The name "Fenton" comes from the Potawatomi word Fenwand, meaning "a place for carrying firewood." The first settler in what is now Fenton was George Warton, who arrived in 1786. He built a cabin on his farmstead near present-day Midland Avenue and Woodward Avenue. Other early settlers were James Laughlin, Jesse Dickinson, John Browning and others who came during the mid-19th century to make land grants or trade with Indians. Settlement increased when railroad construction began in 1866 and new residents arrived to work on the tracks. In 1871, James Halsey bought land east of downtown from David Dixon for $1 million dollars as part of an agreement that would create Wayne County; Fenton became its county seat five years later on November 3, 1876. Governor John Prentice appointed Judge Alexander Payne as its first mayor in 1886 after he defeated incumbent Jno Burchill by about 1,000 votes out of more than 775 cast in a mayoral election that year; Payne was re-elected four times before stepping down in 1893 due to ill health; Mayor Payne's wife Anna served as his successor until her death two years later at age 72; City Councilman Harry Mason took over as mayor from Payne effective January 5, 1899 until his resignation effective December 31st following an indictment against him which did not result in charges being filed against him.; After serving one term as mayor (January 5 through December 31st 1899), Harry Mason succeeded himself as Mayor effective January 5th 1900 until his resignation effective December 31st.. After leaving office as Mayor of Detroit (1900–01), Harry Mason succeed himself again as Mayor effective January 5th 1901 until his resignation effective December 31st.. In 1902 Fenton had its own telephone company which lasted until 1933 when it was taken over by Detroit Telephone Company.; In 1909 there was also a gas line run through town to provide service to surrounding villages;; One year earlier (August 9th 1908), Pemberton Paper Products Corporation established operations at their plant south of town which continued operations until 1966.; On October 24th 1916 local businessman/dealer Walter Aiken purchased 700 acres (270 hectares) west of town from Mills Corporation for $2 million cash plus future royalties.; At this time most businesses were located around Midland Avenue and Woodward Avenue., occupied largely by farmers who raised corn and other crops along with hunting and fishing opportunities off nearby Lake Huron.: In 1922 ownership passed into hands of Trustees Raymond Siskind & Maurice Hinds., among them developer Seymour Rubenstein who had been involved with developing Midland Heights., soon afterwards purchasing additional tracts totaling 4500 acres (2000 hectares). This included lands now within today's Cass Corridor neighborhood outside Downtown Detroit
