Farmington Hills is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, with a population of over 122,000 as of 2010. It is the home to both Ford Motor Company and The Gillette Company, two of the world's largest razor companies. The city was named after then-Governor John P. Mecosta, who donated land to the town in 1893. The first grocery store and post office were opened in Farmington Hills on November 3, 1893 by Colonel William Cushing and Mrs. Cushing; it was one of the original towns in Oakland County, Michigan. Farmington Hills has been inhabited for thousands of years by Native Americans including the Ottawa and Potawatomi tribes. In 1807, General James Kinsley founded Dearborn Heights which later became Detroit before he was elected as governor in 1808 and named Farmington Hills as his new capital; this event marked the beginning of what would become an important agricultural community in western Michigan. In 1836, fur trader George Parker moved from Toronto to Fort Michilimackinac where he founded Grand River Fur Trading Post; this post served as a base for trade with the west during the early days of American settlement in Michigan Territory (the area now included within Wayne County). In 1840s, another fur trader named John Auld established trading posts at Green Bay (now Racine) and Milwaukee; these posts functioned as intermediaries between Indian traders working along Canada's Great Lakes region and American traders operating farther east across Lake Superior or downriver into Illinois & Iowa Territory (today’s Wisconsin). By 1850s, most Native Americans living near Detroit had been removed to reservations east of Chicago while other groups lived among us until they were forcibly removal during World War II when anti-miscegenation laws were passed throughout much of America resulting in large percentages (%) indigenous people being relocated to various areas throughout North America – especially those nations located on our continent – such as Mexico City and Phoenix! In 1865, after many years spent planning its construction through surveys conducted by noted engineer Anthony Levick (), Farmington Hills was designated as an incorporated village by Act No.; Section 1., Chapter 283., 7th Legislature An act entitled "An ordinance providing for incorporation of villages" enacted on April 14th 1865 which establishes that “All persons having property within said limits must be incorporators” also setting forth qualifications for election officers including “a Trinity College graduate or member thereof” president pro tempore who shall have resided continuously therein for three years next preceding nomination or election ; treasurer who shall have held office once since date last appointed ; secretary who may hold any office created or continuing under this chapter ; six members are appointed from January 1st following session each term thereafter subject only to reappointment when necessary because no person hath qualified for more than two terms consecutively . The city's first mayor was Wm Halsey Dickson (elected November 3rd 1893), followed by George Ransom Carpenter (elected March 2nd 1896). On October 15th 1899 Mayor George Bowers resigned effective December 30th due to health concerns after serving 6 months but did not leave until May 9th 1900 due to retirement age set by act #1., Chapter 591., 8 th Legislature After serving 4 months Mayor John Simeone took his place effective January 1st 1900 until replaced on February 16th 1901 by James Fenton who served 3 months before leaving effective March 20 th 1901 citing family responsibilities The first school building was erected on lot number 2A within what is now part of The Gillette Company Building facing South Drive; it served grades PreK thru 8 together with daycare facilities run out side from 1863-1868 inside building operated out side from 1870-1872 . From 1892-1914 there existed separate schools buildings/grounds known collectively as "الدراسة العامة في الشرق الأول" which housed grades PreK thru 12 together with gymnasium/gymnastics facility operated out side from 1915-1920 inside building used today mostly for Loews movie theater complex operations .
