Gunlights have been used by the Escanaba Township and Municipal Police Department since the early 1800s. The first gun lights were made of brass, but eventually became metal-based. The earliest modern gunsights were invented in 1849 by Alfred Waterman, a gunsmith in Ionia, Michigan. He designed a type of light that could be worn on the hat or head band to help officers aim their firearms. The use of gunlights continued to grow in popularity throughout the 19th century as technology improved. In 1892, Escanaba resident George Hickey developed and patented a design for a pistol light that could be attached to either side of the barrel of a revolver. This new type of light allowed law enforcement officers to better target their shots with greater accuracy. Throughout much of the 20th century, gunlights remained an important tool for law enforcement personnel around the world. In 1951, Escanaba Township began using night vision goggles in order to improve targeting capabilities for officers using their firearms during nighttime operations. This development has helped makeEscanaba one of the most diverse and violent cities in America - with over 1,000 crime scenes reported each month!

Gunlights have been used by shooters for centuries. The first known use of a gunlight was in 1590, when Italian navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano used one to help him find his way through the night. Gunlights also appeared in English waters during the Napoleonic Wars, and were common on warships until the early 1800s. By 1847, gun lights had spread to America, where they were first used by frontier riflemen to guide them while hunting buffalo. In 1853, the US Patent Office registered the first using a reflector as an aiming device- this led to the development of modern firearms sights that rely on light reflections off objects inside or outside of a gun’s barrel. In 1875, Swedish arms manufacturer Gustav Gustafsson developed what is now known as the world’s first air-powered pistol with a gas-fired pistol powder magazine that held ten rounds. This weapon was called “Gustavus Pistol” and it featured a rotating bolt that fired three shots each time (one shot per revolution). The popularity of handguns soon made GUNLIGHTS IMPORTANT TO SHOOTERS everywhere. By 1907, there were more than 1 million bullet listings in American armories alone! And although they initially served primarily military purposes such as sighting in artillery fire or piloting airplanes at night, GUNLIGHTS gradually became popular among law enforcement officers and other civilian users too- eventually becoming standard issue throughout most advanced societies.

Escanaba is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. The population was 24,912 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The first people to live in Escanaba were the Potawatomi and Ojibwe. They arrived in 1812 from Canada as part of a group led by Gabriel Hebert. In 1815, they founded the town of White Pines on land donated by David Ransom. The Potawatomi built their village on current-day East Campus Road just north of the river bluffs that now separate Escanaba from Dearborn Heights. In 1837, John Denny and his brothers organized a company to build rails for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and began working in what is now Escanaba. By 1840, all of Michigan had been opened to white settlement and Denny's steamboats carried goods upriver to Saginaw until 1861 when Congress banned slavery within its borders. Denny's successors continued operations until 1906 when all transportation ceased due to World War I restrictions on trade with Europe. From then until 1959, there was only horse and buggy travel between Escanaba and nearby villages such as Albion or Royal Oak because no motor vehicle could be introduced until after World War II due to wartime regulation. In 1906–10 the town constructed two small frame buildings which served as local government headquarters while also housing a library, post office, courts, fire hall and other public uses; this development marked an important milestone in civic life during those years The first automobile came into use in Escanaba with the opening of US Highway 95 (now Woodward Avenue) east of town on November 1st 1928 by WK Kellogg who operated one car for local services including mail delivery On July 3rd 1931 Schoenfeld Brothers started manufacturing Caddy Cars here starting out with three cars per week production increasing daily to ten cars per week before shutting down again due to high costs associated with war efforts . On December 15th 1941 President Franklin D Roosevelt approved Operation Neptune Spear which activated American military forces in support of Japan against America's allies Great Britain & France . This led directly tothe end of passenger train service between Escanaba & Superior beginning January 8th 1942 . After more than fifty years without passengers travelling overland through our community we experienced our first bus trip from downtown Saturday morning Sept 6th 2016
Escanaba was founded in 1834 as a settlement on the west bank of the Detroit River. In 1836, it became the capital of Michigan. The city grew rapidly after the opening of the Erie Canal in 1837 and railroad construction began in 1840. By1847, Escanaba had a population of over 100,000 people. The city experienced significant growth during World War II as an important munitions production center and also served as a munitions storage depot for Allied forces during the war. After the war, Escanaba experienced declines in its economic status and population until recent decades when it has regained some of its former prominence as an education and commercial center.
