Bipedalism has been present in Escanaba, Michigan for over a century. The first bipedal humans who lived in the area were the Miamis. They are thought to have originated from Illinois, and may have interacted with the Canadians or other Native Americans before moving south to what is now Escanaba County. By 1812, the Miamis had moved out of their traditional hunting territory and into what is now Monroe Township. In 1827, they founded the village of Battle Creek on the west bank of Battle Creek River. This was one of the earliest villages in Michigan and may be responsible for its name – it is believed that battle creek means 'the place where water meets land'. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Escanaba County was made by French traders in 1796. The town of Petoskey was established on the east side of Muskegon Lake near modern-day Cadillac. It was known as Pointe du Lac because it stood at an important location on a point where two creeks crossed. The first permanent white settler was Andrew Gregg, who arrived circa 1800 from New York City. He built a log cabin and named his settlement after himself – Greggstown – which he located about three miles north of Petoskey on Muskegon Peninsula overlooking Lake Superior. By 1824, there were 598 people living in Petoskey; it had become an agricultural center with cornmeal production being among its largest businesses. However, during this time period also saw large waves of immigration to Michigan from all over Europe: by 1830, there were 1,500 Europeans living in Petoskey alone. One reason for this growth must have been access to land: many German farmers had come to America seeking new opportunities after experiencing revolution and war abroad while others had followed steamboats downriver towardsDetroit). By 1840, only 8 people remained living in Petoskey; however, due to increased traffic along US-101 (and later I-75) during this time period trade flourished as goods traveled between Detroit and points farther upriver such as Toledo and Chicago via shipyards along Mackinac Island (today's Harbor Beach). One resident who played significant role during these early years was George Stephenson; he became head engineer for Stephenson & Rice Steamship Co., predecessor to today’s Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CPR). Escanaba is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, on the Detroit River. The population was 167 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Lansing–Warren-Dearborn, MI Combined Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Escanaba was first settled by French colonists in 1788 as a result of fur trade with Native Americans. The town was named after Élanxabé, an Indian chief who helped lead a successful attack against a Spanish settlements near what is now Cadillac, Michigan in 1794. In 1836, Escanaba became one of the first towns to be organized under the new United States Constitution when it was created from parts of four other towns: Traverse City (now Ann Arbor), Harper Woods (now Roseville), Muskegon Heights (now West Bloomfield), and Eastern Township (now Ionia). In 1837, it had a population of only 100 people; but within two years it had grown to about 1,500 residents with its own courthouse and jail. By 1860, Escanaba's growth had stalled due to financial problems caused byuka fever which swept through Michigan during that year; however, things began to improve around 1865 when local entrepreneur Jethro Gibbs started production of ethanol from corn syrup for use in gasoline engines and cars. By 1870s Escanaba's economy relied heavily on manufacturing aluminum goods for car bodies and window frames; but during World War II this sector lost much employment due to wartime rationing policies. In 1957, Escanaba became home to one of America's first high schoolers when John Prentice attended Jackson High School there until he transferred to Grinnell College where he graduated magna cum laude in 1960. After college Prentice worked as an advertising executive before becoming mayor of Muskegon Heights from 1984-1992; he also served as president Pro Tempore (the second highest office) at the State House from 1998-2004 while also being a member on several boards including those responsible for developing downtown development plan which later led to his election as Mayor pro tempore in 2006 replacing incumbent Tim Walz

Some people developed simple ways of moving by using just their feet while others developed more complex methods involving both feet and arms (Kramer, 1998). Ultimately, the development of Walking Sport technology allowed us to improve our ability to interact with nature on many levels (Fowler et al., 2006). Escanaba is a city in the Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 10,814 at the 2010 census. It has been the county seat of Muskegon County since 1836. The first post office in Escanaba was established on July 1, 1837. The first mention of an Escanaba Waterworks was in a report from the Michigan Board of Health to Governor John S. Pemberton on November 15, 1853. In 1855, a dam was built to provide water for residents and businesses in what is now downtown Escanaba. By 1870, there were over 100 businesses and 1,000 residents in downtown Escanaba. In 1901, the first electric streetlights were installed throughout town and by 1912 all public buildings had electric lights. In 1906–07, then-Mayor Maughamstra ordered that all white students must leave school during recess forvagrancy prevention campaigns led by black teachers; this order remains one of Muskegon County's most famous landmarks as it successfully prevented integration of schools into the community during that time period
The town of Escanaba was founded in 1838 by John Eaton and his brother, Isaac Eaton. The town quickly grew and became a major center for the fur trade in the area. In 1854, Escanaba was renamed as Lansing after James K. Lansing, the first United States senator from Michigan.
