This new design quickly became popular and remained unchanged until 1979 when Brownell merged with International Harvester Company (IHC). At this point, IHC became one of the largest producers of firearms worldwide. Eastpointe is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, seat of East Lansing Township and home to the Eastpointe Mall. The population was 46,853 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in Michigan after Detroit. The City of East Lansing is east of downtown and shares boundaries with Highland Park to the north, Gratiot Heights to the northwest, and Washtenaw Heights to the south. The area that makes up today's Eastpointe was first settled by Potawatomi Native Americans in 1812. It was named for John Prentice Eastman, who had been an agent for Great Britain onthe eastern side of the Mackinac Bridge during the 1810s fur trade campaign against American traders led by Simon Frick. In 1818, James Kapp founded what is now known as Kapp's Landing on Lapeer Creek east of present-day East Pointe. In 1824, George Stephenson erected a steamboat dock at what is now known as Stephenson Landing on Superior River just west of where US 24 intersects I-75W (now US 6). The landing became immortalized when Warner Bros.'s "The Batman" movie featured a scene where Dr. Strange uses it to land his jetboat on shore. In 1830, Michael Jordon purchased 640 acres (262 hectares) along Saginaw Bay from David Dixon Dunham for $2 million dollars ($30 million in 2016 currency). Jordon built his first homes there – one called Belle Terre – around 1840 which still stands today as a structure within Detroit’s limits but without its original facade or roofline because Jackson wanted people living there close enough so he could see them everyday and maintain personal contact with them despite distance fromhome He also laid out streets which would eventually become part of town center including Woodward Avenue between Belle Terre Road and Holland School Road near present day Midtown Detroit

Eastpointe is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Muskegon County. The population was 17,471 at the 2010 census,[1] making it one of the most populous cities in Michigan and one of its largest counties. It is also home to Eastpointe Naval Weapons Station, which produces naval munitions and components for ships. The first European settlers in what would become Eastpointe were French traders who sailed upriver from Detroit in 1689 to trade with the local Algonquian people. In 1701, John Wilkinson purchased about 2 square miles (5 km2) north of present-day Eastpointe from theouchi Confederacy for $10 per acre ($240/km²). Wilkinson named his tract "Eastpointe." In 1812, Joseph Griggs surveyed part of what is now Muskegon County and sold land east of Mackinac Island to James Czolgoszek for $200 per acre ($4,800/km²).[2] This area became known as Griggs Township. In 1827, Nathan Bedford Forrest bought 640 acres (248 ha) around present day East Pointe from Griggs for $3 per acre ($8/ha).[3] Forrest named his land Eastern Mound.[4] It was not until 1898 that Eastern Mound became West Point when all but 1 sq mi (2 km2) of it was annexed by neighboring Detroit.[5][6][7] At this time, only a small amount remained within today's east side limits of West Point Naval Weapons Station grounds; today much remainder forms downtown EastPointe as well as portions off Flint Avenue between Woodward Avenue and Grand River Avenue near Brush Road NW. The City-County Building on Monroe Street began construction on September 25, 1903[8], two years before Michigan's incorporation as a state on January 3rd, 1905[9]. The building served both as an courthouse where court proceedings were held and also housed city government services such as firefighting and police departments until 1942 when they were moved to the new Stonington Armory building on Woodward Avenue NE after that structure went up in flames following an arson attack. On March 15, 1907,[10][11]: residents voted by referendum to change their name from "Eastpointe" to "Muskegon Heights".[12]:page 150 On July 5th 1908,[13]:page 152 it was announced that changes had been made to city charter effective July 1st 1908 which eliminated mayoral term limits and gave more power to the City Council over public works including housing development On November 12th 1909[14], Mayor Dickson resigned due largely to pressure brought forth by then-City Council Member John Hickey who felt he had been unfairly slighted during early planning stages for community center adjacent Wayne State University campus expansion plans - at least four blocks south of current day Union Station
Eastpointe is a city in Midland County, Michigan, United States. The population was 15,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settler in what is now Eastpointe was Alexander Mackenzie in 1819. In 1827, George Washington sold parcels of land along the Michigan River to John Saginaw and David Whitmore for $5,000 each. Whitmore named his new settlement after himself – Eastpointe – and opened it to traffic on July 4, 1830. By 1840, Eastpointe had become a town with a population of around 60 residents. In 1847, the Michigan legislature passed a bill creating "the Township of Eastpointe" within Midland County. The township's boundaries were drawn based on post office mileages rather than population numbers so as not to have too many small villages clustered together within an artificially large area. As townships grew and changed their boundaries over time – typically through annexation by other counties or due to political changes – Eastpointe has remained largely unchanged since its creation more than 150 years ago. Throughout its history, East Pointe has been an agricultural community with heavy reliance on agriculture for both income and jobs throughout much of its existence; however, recent trends have shown that the city is becoming increasingly urbanized as well as leading efforts within the local community to promote alternative forms of economic development such as arts and craftsmanship, music production and entrepreneurship among others On October 1st 1888– one year after President Grover Cleveland became president–East Pointe joined Oakland Township in Macomb County when that township was separated from Midland County . Oakland Township continued to exist until 1959 when it merged into Macomb County . On November 3rd 1961- two years after Macomb County became another U.S state-East Pointe became a city under the jurisdiction of Wayne State University .
