Eastpointe is a city in the United States. The population was 54,711 at the 2010 census. It is served by Eastpointe Township and Oakland Township. Eastpointe was founded on October 6, 1873, by George W. Snyder and James A. McNamara as a small farming village named Forks of the Roadside which developed into an urban center on the east side of Michigan Avenue between Woodward and Kettelheim Streets. The name "Eastpointe" originated from an Indian word meaning "west point". In 1875, Snyder sold his share in the village to McNamara for $2,000 cash. The two men then began to develop it into what would become one of Michigan's largest cities with over 100 businesses located in downtown East Pointe along Michigan Avenue between Woodward and Kettelheim Streets within three blocks of each other - making it easily accessible for workers who traveled through Detroit or Saginaw on their way to their jobs throughout the city. The first building erected in downtown Eastpointe was a Masonic Lodge which served as home to many meeting until 1888 when it moved to its current site at 4th Street and Grand River Avenue due to fire code regulations that required all Meeting Lodges to have smoke detectors available inside their buildings during meetings. In 1907, four years after Snyder's death, McNamara sold his share of Eastpointe Village back to Snyder's son George W., Jr.. In 1916, George W., Jr.'s father George W., Sr., died suddenly leaving behind him two children-George Washington III (Gw3) who ran Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC) and Mary Elizabeth (Mb3), also known as Eleanor Roosevelt who became First Lady of New York City following her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's election as President in November 1932; however she did not move back east until after World War II ended in 1945 so that she could be near her mother who lived nearby since she married Mr. Roosevelt when he was only 24 years old with no children! After Mrs. Roosevelt's death in 1964 she was buried next door at Mount Hope Cemetery with her husband! In 1957–58 GMC opened its new plant onthe west side of town near Grand River Ave just north of I-94 which created trailerpark conditions that led to widespread property damage/losses across town including significant damage done to City Hall which lay abandoned for more than a year before finally being restored thanks largely to donations from friends & family members former Mayor John Pasternack joined forces with then Vice Presidential Candidate Nelson Rockefeller & state Rep./Controller Gary Burton (D-Dearborn Heights) led efforts raised about US$6500 needed thruOperation Restore Community Parks fund drive which successfully closed park ransacked several weeks later!!! 1 million dollars were raised nationally thru Durant’s Tractor Show America event held Sept 10 – 12, 1960 adjacent Big Lake where president EisenhowerUrged nation action against pollution resulting in creationofUAW Local 399 #Emmons Pledge Drive attended by UAW District President Stan Emmons Whitehead

Eastpointe, Michigan is a city located in the U.S. state of Michigan and is part of the Lansing Metropolitan Area. As of 2010, the population was 83,664. The city is the cultural and commercial center for Muskegon County and its surrounding districts. It was founded in 1855 by Henry Dearborn as an agricultural town on the east bank of the Muskegon River. In 1871, Eastpointe became a town limits charter with a population of 10,000. It annexed neighboring Southgate in 1907 and had a total population of 24,752 in 1912; it had 54,853 residents as of 2010. In 1915, Eastpointe became an all-city municipality with a population over 100,000 people split evenly between urban areas (50%) and rural areas (50%). In 1926 it merged with Grand Rapids to form what would eventually be called “The City of Detroit”; however this merger never came into effect because Flint petitioned to have their own city status granted because they felt that Eastpointe had not done enough to promote itself as an economic center within The City of Detroit. In 1967–1968, during the height of its heyday as one of America's largest shopping malls,[1] East Pointe experienced racial violence when African Americans were targeted for vandalism and theft at local businesses primarily attributable to white supremacists aligned with then-Governor George Romney’s secret racist campaign promises made during his 1964 presidential election victory against incumbent Lyndon Johnson.[2] This event has been often memorialized[3][4][5] through murals across downtown featuring black figures from throughout history who have spoken out about how easy it is for anyone to vandalize or steal from innocent civilians without consequence – until recently something which still casts a shadow over downtown today following these events that took place more than fifty years ago. Today East Pointe features many diverse neighborhoods including: Midtown,[6][7][8], Downtown,[9], Ann Arbor Hills,[10], Highland Park,[11], West Side[12][13], Rouge Park,[14] Eastern Market District[15],[16],[17],[18];[19][/20]and several large business districts including: Saginaw Valley Center [21]; Northwest Market District [22]; Michigan Avenue; North Campus Drive/Eighth Street; Kresge Plaza; Warehouse District; Grosse Pointe Southside [23]; Brushy Creek Community School District No 1 [24]. Eastpointe is a city in Missaukee County, Michigan, United States. The population was 8,826 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in the county and the third-largest city in MI after Detroit and Flint. The city was founded on October 10, 1855 by George Easton as a trading post on the riverfront of what is now Eastpointe Township. The name comes from English explorer George Easton's discovery of this area in 1824 while exploring downriver from Mackinac Island. In 1865, when the Michigan Territory was created from parts of Upper Michigan, Eastpointe became part of that territory. In 1871, it became a part of Macomb County. On March 15, 1898 – one hundred years to the day since its founding – Eastpointe got its own charter as an incorporated municipality with a population of 10,000 people under one mayor and six trustees (the first being Wm Hickey). The population grew rapidly during World War II as war production increased around the country; however, following the war's end in 1945 there was significant growth throughout downtown east pointe and much slower growth elsewhere within town limits. During this time many stores closed or moved out due to competition from larger malls popping up along I-75 outside town limits; however some small businesses did manage to stay open despite this competition including JCPenney which reopened its location near mainstreet after moving across state line into Indiana but keeping all its employees within town limits for many years until 2005 when they closed completely due to online sales only operations becoming more prevalent throughout most retailers these days). It wasn't until 1990 when then Mayor Bob Scherer announced plans to redevelop Main Street into "a world class shopping center". After years of planning and construction starting in 1992–1994 it opened on November 12th 1995 finally making it possible for everyone living east pointe/downtown to stop feeling like they were 'behind' their neighbor just because they were located west side (or downtown) rather than right next door; however many residents still continue feel that way today even though redevelopment has made most everything closer together so you can no longer see your neighbor's property behind their house anymore 😉
