The first firearm used in East Grand Rapids was a hand-held shotgun called the Gun Hammer. TheGun Hammer was designed by George L. Ellis, an inventor and gunsmith who resided in East Grand Rapids at the time. TheGun Hammer consisted of a metal handle with a hammer on one end and a round head bullet on the other end. It was primitive compared to later firearms such as rifles and shotguns, but it served its purpose well enough for many years. In 1873, George L. Ellis patented his design of the Shotgun Gun Hammer which became known as the Gun Hammer Rifle. This device allowed users to hold their shotguns with both hands and use them like pistols by striking the firing button with one hand to fire the ball cartridge from the shotgun barrel

Gun hammers vary in design, but all share one common purpose: to prevent the breech from mis-feeding and thereby resulting in an accidental discharge. Gun hammers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with the most popular being the round-headed hammer. The round-headed hammer has a head that is rounder in shape than otherhammerheads and is typically held against the stock by either two hands or by using grip screws (held on either side of the head). The key difference between a round-headed Hammer and a standard barrel hammer is that the former has an enlarged flange on its top face which mates with an enlarged lug on the barrel, allowing it to be applied with greater leverage when striking. The benefit of this increased leverage comes at a cost; as well as having more torque at their disposal, round-headed hammers also have greater shear forces (the ability of an object to tear through material) than regular barrel hammers. This can lead to some confusing moments when trying to obtain accurate percussion strikes with such devices - particularly if both hands are occupied!

East Grand Rapids is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and the seat of Kent County. The population was 81,812 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Michigan and one of its five counties. It is a major commercial center with several shopping malls, including East side mall and Imlay Park mall. The city has also been home to Eastridge Hospital since 1922. The area that would become East Grand Rapids was first settled by Native Americans in 1800s as part of the Miami Purchase Agreement between Great Britain and the United States. The town's name originates from an event on July 4, 1824 when General John Custer led his troops into what is now downtown Grand Rapids for a symbolic battle against Chief Joseph "Hollow Leg" Fontenelle. After victory over Fontenelle's forces, General Custer called out "Erie County! Erie County!" which led to residents calling their town EGR or "Erie." In 1827, developers started developing land around what is now downtown Grand Rapids for housing purposes; this included founding of what would become known as the First National Bank Building on State Street. By 1840, most of what would become eastside east grand rapids had been developed as well with some residential buildings being built on Ferry Road near present day Imlay Park Boulevard/Mall Drive while others were built west of State Street along Water Avenue and North Broadway before becoming part of downtown in 1851 when all but two blocks north became part of central business district (CBD). In 1850s alone, there were 5 businesses open for business within 1 mile (1 km) radius where today's eastern edge arterial streets are located: First National Bank building - now 3rd Ave SE; Charter Station - now 2nd Ave SE; Masonic Temple - now 10th St NW; Griggs Brewery - still standing at current location just southwest corner High School bus stop across MLK Jr Blvd from campus entrance.; Grosse Pointe Armoury & Tavern - long gone but can be found at current site off I-94 exit 117 & MLK Jr Blvd just past Kmart store

East Grand Rapids, Michigan is a city located in the southeast corner of Michigan. The population was 54,817 at the 2010 census. It has been home to many different cultures and activities over its history. From the time it was founded until today, East Grand Rapids has seen growth and progress. The first people to live in what is now East Grand Rapids were Native American people who called it “the Granite Coast” because of the abundance of granite rock near their settlement. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now East Grand Rapids were French traders who named it after the River du Lac which they found on their mapping expedition. In 1814, US General James Kieft established Fort Dearborn here as part of his military campaign against Native Americans in what is now Lower Michigan. The town started off as a small frontier outpost with only 10 residents when he built the fortification around 1815-1816. The town slowly grew and by 1825, there were over 100 citizens living hereabouts. By 1830, business had started to grow so much that Kieft decided to move the fortifications upriver for better protection from Indian raids and attacks. Today’s downtown area was built on land that once belonged to Kieft’s fortifications! During World War I, Eastern Grand Rapids became an important supply center for day-to-day operations for military units stationed in nearby Detroit due to its strategic location between Battle Creek and other major cities across America during the war effort (SeeBattle Creek). After World War II ended, Eastern Grande Raritan Township (now Northville) merged into EastGrandRaritan City Limits effective January 1st 1959 which left most of Eastern Grande Raritan Township unincorporated as a result of this merger process; however portions of Southside Drive through affluent neighborhoods still remain unincorporated within city limits making them part of eastern side municipality boundary!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The city of East Grand Rapids was founded on November 3, 1836, by the merger of two villages, "East Lansing" and "Grand Rapids". The original name for the town was "Grand rapids", but a change in government mind caused the name to be changed to "East Grand Rapids". The population of the city increased from 100 to 4,000 during the first decade of its existence. In 1851, construction began on what is now known as downtown East Grand Rapids. This new section of town became home to many businesses and residents who wanted a center where they could interact with one another. The first public building in downtown East Grand Rapids was the Masonic Temple which opened in 1852. During World War II, various industries in east grandRapids were used to produce goods for military use such as munitions and planes. Some businesses that operated during this time include J.B. Lumber Company (later Kirtland-Clark lumber), Maytag Sewing Machine Company (later Maytag Corp.), GE Aircraft Industries (later General Electric Co.), Chrysler Corporation's Division No. 1 Factory (now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV), Dow Chemical Company's Research Laboratory (now Dow Corning Inc.), and Ford Motor Company's Rouge Plant No. 2 (now known as Dearborn Heights). One significant development in downtown East Grand Rapids during this time was the opening of Michigan Central Railway Station which served as a transportation hub for goods moving between east grandrapid and other parts of the state. This station also housed a number of businesses including Bigelow Brewery and Wirth Drugstore before it closed in 1967 due to budget cuts by then Mayor Rick Jones Sr.. In 1998, Michigan Central Railway Station reopened as part of an effort to revive downtown East Grand Rapids economy which has since been successful; numerous new businesses have been brought intotown since then including Macy's Department Store, Denny's restaurant, Anheuser Busch Brewery & Taproom, Moe's Western Barbecue Restaurants - formerly Pabst Brewing Co., Empire Chevrolet Sales & Service Center - formerly Briggs Truck Sales & Service Center - now Eastern Auto Parts store - along with several housing projects completed throughout downtown over recent years that have helped contribute to continued growth inthe area
