This company manufactured binoculars from 1835 to 1870 which operated out of a building on Third Street in downtown East Grand Rapids. The city was founded on May 1, 1827, by John Sutter and his family after they abandoned their previous home of Sacramento City in California. However, some older businesses still remain in town including KFC and Pizza Hut as well as a few small businesses located near Woodward Avenue which runs through town center. East Grand Rapids is also heavily dependent on agriculture with many small farms dotting the landscape. Some produce items such as eggs or tomatoes while others are just used for fertilizer or animal feed. However, over time these operations have been purchased by larger companies who have invested in new production processes such as hydroponics or robotics which have allowed them to grow larger crops more efficiently than ever before while also reducing environmental impact

East Grand Rapids, Michigan is a city located in the U.S. state of Michigan and is the county seat of Kent County. The population was 492 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Kent County behind Lansing and Detroit. The first Europeans to encounter what is now East Grand Rapids were French traders who traveled upriver from Green Bay in Wisconsin in 1690. They named their find "Grand Rapids." The first permanent settler was Nicholas Stoney, who arrived in 1715 and built a log cabin on the east side of rapids called "Bridgewater." He also founded a grist mill on the river that still stands today. In 1818, John Butterfield came overland from Chicago with his family and founded what would become East Grand Rapids as a town. butterfield's store opened on July 4, 1825, becoming one of the earliest commercial buildings in what is now East Grand Rapids Township. Butterfield served as mayor from 1827 to 1830 and as recorder from 1830 to 1840; he also served as captain of militia during this time period. In 1851, territorial legislature passed an act which designated land east of Mackinac Bridge for settlement by residents of Michigan Territory This act created Macomb Township which included most of what is now East Grand Rapids Township including present day downtown areas such as meetinghouses and churches associated with that township name until 1959 when those areas became part of Downtown Detroit
East Grand Rapids was founded in 1825 by Nicholas Dixey and others. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the western end of the Peninsula, and constantly became a focus for industry, trade, and transportation. By 1848, East Grand Rapids had become an important crossroads for the region. In that year, it was renamed after George Sarton, an American statesman who had helped to promote the growth of Michigan.
