In 1800, John Dickson bought 4 square miles (10 km2) north east from Griggs at Little Traverse Bay for $5000 from George Hull2 This location would become known as 'Hull Heights'. By 1825 all lands within current day Detroit limits had been surveyed and sold3; this included land east of Woodward Avenue includingpresentday Ford City4 In 1827, while still located at Fort Dearborn on Lakes Huron and St Clair rivers opposite Redford Township on Mason Street5, Napoleon Bonaparte issued his Mexican Declaration Of Independence6 which led to open warfare between Mexico and Great Britain over control of North America7; this conflict resulted in more than 50 deaths9
