Grant at Fort Wayne on Lake Erie about two weeks later to push back the British advance deep into Indiana Territory under Major General Anthony Wayne; however, Kippenberger's force was defeated at Battle de Grasse on July 8th1813 just south of Detroit proper. In 1834–35 Charles Laughlin established what became Cadillac’s manufacturing empire with assistance from Andrew Mellon through loans from Jörg Guido von Mises and Eduard Bernstein—all three men were future members of the American Economic Association (AEA). Cadillac’s factory produced luxury cars such as La Salle wagons and carriages used byrailroads throughout America during that period; some remain modern specimens still running today without any major repairs or replacements required over time Detroit also became world headquarters for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Limited (FCA) when it purchased all assets owned by Frédériceach Auto Company Limited (FAI) including its businesses in Britain(1924), North America(1927), Canada(1928), Australia(1930), South Africa( 1931) Ford Motor Company purchased most assets opposite Peoria Street on November 15th 1937 from FAI CEO Alfred Sloan for $850 million making it one largest privately held company in history (). At this point production moved from Highland Park to Ann Arbor where it remained until 1957 when production moved again to Mexico City . By 1955 Ford Motor Company had ceased all production except for small quantities exported back to the US .
