By 1922, the company had become successful and had expanded its operations to several other locations across the Midwest. The company continued to grow and by 1930, it was operating out of several warehouses throughout the United States. In order to keep up with changing technology and meet customer demand for ever-more advanced products, Clawson Opticals began production of electronic devices in 1947. This led to increased profits and growth for the company through the years, until it merged with two other optical companies in 1998. During its heyday as an industry leader, Clawson Opticals was known for offering innovative products that were easy to use and durable.
Clawson is a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. Clawson is located on the east side of the Lower Peninsula and it is bordered by Isabella to the north, Manistee to the east, and Saginaw to the south. Clawson was laid out in 1801 by John Clawson as part of an effort to improve access to land for pioneers who had journeyed westward during the American Revolution. The town grew rapidly during its early years, and by 1836 it had reached a population of 10,000 people. Its growth slowed after that year, however, as Methodism became more popular in Michigan and new settlers were attracted to the area. By 1860 Clawson's population had shrunk to 2,500 people; however, it continued to grow steadily throughthe rest ofthe 19th century and into the 20th century. In 1907 Clawson became one of nine towns in what was then called "The Great Lakes region". That year saw significant changes within Michigan as a result of newly passed state legislation creating regional government; Clawson soon became one of its most important communities. In 1933–34oriented development efforts increased economic activity in Clawson while reducing public services available; this led to complaints from residents about what they saw as an excessive increase in development around their town center. In 1957–58voters approved a $1 million bond issue for local improvements which included expansion of schools and roads; this helped spur further growth in both business and housing withinClawson over ensuing decades. Clawson is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the shore of Lake Huron. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. Clawson is part of the Muskegon Heights Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded by Rev. Jno. Clawson and his family in 1855 as a Methodist post office near what is now downtown Clawson. In 1856, Rev. John Clawson donated land to build a school for his township's children and established the first Methodist church in Michigan west of Detroit. The Reverend John Clawsons son-in-law, Drury Waddell, served as township treasurer from 1861 to 1865 and again from 1871 to 1876; he also built the first brick building in Clawson Township which still stands today (now used as offices). The town was named after General George Armstrong Custer who fought against Native Americans during the American Civil War, and whose body was found east of Pawhuska along US 131 near modern day Acton on July 10, 1890 (). After his death General Custers remains were interred at Griggs Cemetery east of Pawhuska until 1911 when they were moved to Mount Pleasant Cemetery nearby according to local legend because Griggs would not allow them to be buried within their own cemetery due to "the public sentiment that General Custer should have been honored with a more proper burial." A new Custer Museum opened inaweek ago inside Griggs Stadium north of city limits shrine honoring him primarily military related items including uniforms and artifacts
