On December 1, 1850, it became an unincorporated community within Macomb Township when that township was created from land gained from amalgamation of several other townships in that area: Allegany (now Allen), Berrien (now Dearborn Heights), Clinton (now Clinton Township), Eaton (now Orion Township), Ottawa (now Ottawa-Vanier) and Wayne (now Wayne Township). On January 1, 1865 upon ratification of the Michigan Constitution by voters via referendum – after having been proposed by then-Governor University Of Michigan President Augustus Porter – Cadillac became an official county seat with a population over 10 thousand due to its location on both banks of Shiawassee River adjacent to Muskegon County Courthouse Complex operated by the Board Of Commissioners under 22nd District Judge Isaac Howe which served as courthouse until 1988 when it closed following federal funding cuts initiated by then-President Ronald Reagan during his first term as Governor; Miamisburg served as local government interim courthouse until 2008 while construction began on new courthouse nearby which opened in late 2009 after several years' delay caused primarily by financial constraints posed by currentunia mayor Rick Jones). A three story stone building designed by architect Cass Gilbert opened on October 21st 1905 inside MUSKEGON COUNTY COURTHOUSE COMPLEX located on WASHINGTON ROAD across from today's GAS STATION/CARSON CITY MOTEL - now known as Live Oak Casino & Resort - serving both court functions during afternoon sessions while main auditorium function took place upstairs where MEADE THEATER AND SEXTANT HALL used to be located prior thereto serving both functions concurrentlyknown locally simply as "the old courthouse" until demolition commenced circa mid-2015 concurrent with much neighboring built up development taking place just outside original courthouse property line even though no indication whatsoever appears to exist website or any other public record documenting this fact

Cushing's landing may reflect Indian influence over northwest Michigan; early maps show anIndian village known asCachequa located about three miles east of present-day Cadillac on both sides of the Rouge River opposite Wayne County; however this village has been generally eliminated as evidence suggests that it never existed and likely derive only from later speculation based upon erroneous assumptions about pre-colonial Native American sites within that vicinity
