Gun Parts History in Burton, Michigan began with the founding of the town in 1871. The first gun parts store was founded by James T. Hahn and his wife, Emma C. Hahn, in 1870. The store was located on the corner of Main and Wabash streets. Over time, other stores were opened including thoseowned by Jacob Sibley (1875-1922), Augustus Hinkelmeyer (1876-1927), Gertrude Ewing (1877-1971), Harry Wirthman (1900-1982) and Josephine Dyson (1902-2003). In 1931, Mrs. John Fenton opened her owngunpartsstore at 14th Street and State Avenue in Burton. This store became one of the most popular in the town because it sold a wide variety of firearms including pistols, shotguns, rifles and handguns. In 1984, Mrs. Fenton's store merged with that of Mr. George Pappas to form the present day Pappas Gun Store & Garments Incorporated. Burton is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located about 38 miles south of Detroit on the border of Washtenaw and Oakland counties. The population was 10,851 at the 2010 census. The first Burton post office was established in 1828, and the present one was built in 1899. Burton has a rich history dating back to its early settlers, who were pioneers who arrived from England in the mid-19th century. In 1828, John Burton founded Burtonville after purchasing land east of what is now downtown Detroit for $1 per acre (0.50¢ per mile). He named his new community after himself and his brother Jonathan, both natives of Warwickshire, England. The first settler in Burtonville was Isaac Miller, who arrived in 1829 with four other men and a wagonload of goods from New York City. He built himself a log cabin on his farmstead which he named "Miller's Camp." After some time he sold his land to John Burton for $2 per acre (0.80¢ per mile). To this day, that location remains as the nucleus of today's city limits—the only part of town still within original boundaries when measured by total square footage (). In 1836–37 Capt John Purdy traveled through Canada along what is now US-10 and noted impressive views southward across Lake Huron to where he imagined future settlements would be located if the Great Lakes weren't dividable into two oceans (). This inspired him to think about how best to connect those vast panoramas together so that potential colonists could see them firsthand (). Captain Purdy purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) northeast of downtown Burtonville for $5 per acre ($160/km²), which became known as "Purdy's Ranch". Captain Purdy also donated land southwest of town near Belle Isle for use as an agricultural or stock ranch () during this time period (). That same year saw another milestone in Burtonville history when Dr George Haggerty moved into town fromAnn Arbor to become its first physician (); Dr Haggerty served until 1861(). A few months later another doctor joined the medical staff: David Ladd (), who served until 1870(). Prior to arriving at Burtonville, Ladd had been practicing Medicine online outfitted house before coming down here permanently ;-) . With all these doctores on hand it must have been quite unusal back then!lol . By 1840 there were ten residents living in Burtonville; by 1850 there were twenty-one residents (), including six children below age eighteen years old (). In 1855 Dr Wm Noyes set up an operation theater here () which became known as Main Street Hospital over time (. By 1870 there were thirty-two residents living in town(), including fifteen children below age eighteen years old.). From 1830 until 1860 more than three hundred households lived within five miles (8 km)of downtown; by 1860 just nineteen dwellings remain within that fivemile radius (. People didn't move away very much during those decades!). And yet despite this growth (>50%!), none of these residences survive intact today — they have all been replaced or demolished! No wonder our city limits are shrinking every year!!!!! :)
Burton is a village in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,659 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing-Warren-Dearborn metropolitan area. The village was founded in 1848 by Captain George Burton and his family as a post office on the Ottawa River. The first settler to arrive was Samuel Clements. In 1855, Burton became president of the Washtenaw County Agricultural Society and began developing land around what is now Burton Village into what would become today's townsite. In 1876, Burton donated 2 acres (0.8 km2) of land east of present day Burton Village to establish what would become home to Washtenaw State University (WSU). WSU moved from its original location on Woodward Avenue in Traverse City to a new campus near what is now Burton Village in 1957. The university has since grown exponentially with various campuses throughout Michigan and beyond located within easy commuting distance of downtown Lansing, making it one of the largest public universities in the United States. Today, Burton remains an important community with its own shops and businesses as well as several park areas including Lake Superior Park which offers views of Downtown Lansing from many locations within the village limits; as well as smaller parks dotting the surrounding neighborhood streetsides such as Olde Towne Park just off Saginaw Street between Third Street and Fourth Street NW; Back Bay Park adjacent to Main Street NW; and High School Park adjacent to Seventh Street NE across from WSU's current campus quadrangle which also includes several tennis Courts used by both men's and women's teams during NCAA sanctioned events like regionals or national championships
