The economic Miracle that followed post-war Birmingham was due largely to two things: First there were massive influxes of new citizens who brought their skills and knowledge which helped spur industrial growth; secondly black Americans who took advantage of government job opportunities available during Reconstruction period which created an overall wealth for all citizens no matter race or color
