Additionally, some land mammals such as horses also been known to hopping along the ground during times of drought or famine due to their lack of an opposable thumb which allows them navigate by touch rather than sight. It wasn’t until the beginning of the modern era when bipedalism spread throughout much of Earth with humans making its debut around 100,000 years ago on Easter Island in Polynesia where they began walking on two legs instead of just one. From there, human beings began migrating out into more open areas where they could exploit new resources and meet new people. Headed by Booth's brother-in-law Major General James Gist, this force invaded central Michigan and attacked Bloomfield Township before being driven back by local militia forces under Captain John Dyer plus US cavalry under General Philip Sheridan on July 10th 1863 near downtown Birmingham. This action helped establish military supremacy over free blacks in northern Michigan Territory during what came to be known as Reconstruction era America In 1865 after Union victory at Battle of Vicksburg their troops burned all but two buildings on Main Street in downtown Birmingham as a rallying cry against slaveowners' racism
