Benton Harbor is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Benton County. The population was 47,898 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Benton County. The city is near Lansing and Detroit, Michigan, on the north shore of Lake Huron. However there are still some remaining Kodak Ektachrome High Capacity Memory Cards available that can be used with current digital cameras sporting firmware older than 6 November 2006 which will work with any newer firmware version after that date however please make sure you have an original Kodak Ektachrome memory card case or bag when purchasing these cards!

Benton Harbor is a town in Midwestern United States, located on the St. Joseph River. The population was 10,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wastewater Field District and is served by the Benton Harbor Local School District. The first settler in Benton Harbor was Isaac Benton, who arrived in 1795 and built a cabin near what is now the heart of town. In 1824, he married Martha Means from Wawassee County, Michigan and they began to farm around what is now downtown Benton Harbor. The means also operated a store in downtown for several years before it closed down in 1836 due to competition from a new store opening nearby. In 1839, John Stephenson purchased land east of downtown from Abraham Hammond for $2 per acre (today's equivalent of $ ). He named his tract Stephenson's Valley after General George Armstrong Custer who had died that year during the Mexican-American War. The area became known as "Custer's Hill" because many local residents were related to Custer through his family or acquaintance. A few years later, Stephenson donated land west of downtown to create what is today called State Street which runs along its centerline today. In 1847, Hiram Lodge bought land north of State Street from Stephenson for $10 per acre (today's equivalent of $ ). He developed it into a village which included buildings on both sides of State Street between Canavan Avenue and First Avenue until 1861 when they burned down due to an arson problem; that same year saw the opening of Griswold Hotel on Canavan Avenue across from where state street currently ends). After this event there was little development along state street until about 1870 when business started moving back towards Canavan Ave., although some houses still remain standing off-center on STATE STREET TODAY! A post office was established at Benton Harbour in 1850 and remained open until 1906 when it moved to Grand Rapids; however, mail deliveries continued through Watertown until 1912 when that post office closed as well due to lack of customers elsewhere within Grand Rapids limits! An early church founded in 1865 near what are now State Street and Canavan Ave., known as First Baptist Church remains standing today; it has been designated as a National Historic Landmark (#8291). From 1861-1896 there were three stores operating within town borders: one just south side of current day Fourth Ave./Canavan Ave., one north side just past current day Third Ave./State St., & one up 3rd St./Canavan Ave.; all but two were failed businesses which were eventually replaced with more successful endeavors! The only remaining building still existing outside city limits which functions as a commercial enterprise today is Griswold Hotel mentioned previously located off-center on 4th Ave./Canavan Ave.; unfortunately this hotel has seen some decline over time (& ongoing issues with management) so please don't hesitate if you feel like dropping by since I'm pretty sure you could find someone inside playing music or watching TV ;)
The town of Benton Harbor was founded in 1824 by Captain John C. Frigg, a Danish-born fur trader. The first store opened in 1828 and the first post office in 1830. The town grew rapidly during the mid-19th century as logging and agriculture became important economic activities. In 1852, Benton Harbor became a city and it retains that status to this day. One of the most notable events in Benton Harbor's history occurred on July 16, 1898 when a group of American soldiers stationed at Fort Gratiot surrendered to Spanish forces after four days of fighting.
