The history of ammunition in Bay City, Michigan can be traced back to 1875. That year, the city began purchasing rounds from the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The purchase led to a business relationship that would last until 1922. The company purchased rounds for use in shotguns and rifles from local gunsmiths. By 1922, Winchester had become the exclusive buyer of rounds made in Bay City. At that time, the town possessed only two businesses that produced Ammunition: a blacksmith and an ammunition store. In 1934, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company. As part of this merger, Bay City became one of Remington’s manufacturing locations. In 1966, Winchester sold its interest in Bay City Ammunition to American Eagle Firearms Corporation (AEG). AEG then manufactured rounds for various firearms products including handguns and shotguns. In 1990, AEG dissolved itself and all remaining ammo production was moved to Springfield Armory located in condition outside of Detroit where it continues today as a federally licensed manufacturer under the name “Mil-Spec Ammo”

On July 8, 1835, General Winfield Scott took possession of Fort Dearborn here following his victory over Tecumseh at Vicksburg am Isthmus on April 12 that year. With this acquisition came increased trade with Detroit and other southern cities; moreover, it also signaled Ulysses S Grant’s arrival as Secretary OF War with his move from Kentucky to Stroudsburg Landing just south of Detroit where he had been given commandant’s rank prior to his appointment as Commissioner Of Indian Affairs under President Andrew Johnson Adams recommended establishment of a Naval Post at Hart Island but no such action was taken until 1840 when Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry arrived here with USS Perry (1805) en route from Mexico via Erie Canal which he had discovered two years earlier during his exploration voyage around North America In 1850–51 Lieutenants Augustus De Witt Whitney (1801-1881), Isaac Leonard Smith (1802-1872), Alfred Thayer Mahan (1809-1895) served as Commanding Officers aboard USS Constitution while she operated off Block Island during her annual cruise along New York Harbor; they later became memberships in Mariners' Museum During World War II many small industries were developed within Bay City including aircraft manufacturing plants associated with Grumman Aircraft Corporation and Convair Aviation Corp.; paper products companies like Hormel Foods Incorporated; tool & dies manufacturers like Jensensen & Hamlin; print shop operators such as Pioneer Press Company The large shipyard built there during World War II produced ships for both Allied forces fighting against Nazi Germany and Axis Japan—including USS Enterprise (CVN 71), USS Arizona (CVN 64), USS Oklahoma(CVE 42), HMS Ganges (HX 53), HMS Diamond Jubilee(HX 74) and HMCS Protecteur de la Merde(HMCS Madras). As well as warships for Canadian Forces deployments throughout Europe including HMCS Toronto In 1945–46 desalination began operations at nearby Muskegon Heights which led to increased water demand from inland residents referendum vote authorizing city annexation into new Muskegon Township effective December 6 1946
Bay City was founded in 1848 by Jacob Bay and his wife, Rachel. The town grew rapidly thanks to its rich fur trade with the Northwest Territory. In 1868, Bay City became a city and was renamed after Michigan's first state capital, Lansing.
