Morgan established Morgan Guaranty Trust Company which built several factories including Armour Manufacturing Company[4], Brush Electric Vehicle Plant and other businesses[5][6][7] The Townships were disbanded at their respective incorporation dates; Auburn Heights 9/1/1834; Brighton 10/1/1835; Gratiot 1/1/1836; Lincoln 2/15/1837; Mapleland 3/24/1838; Oakwood 4/? 1840; Plainfield 5/? 1847 and Parkville 6/? 1850[8][9]. On July 15th 1860, when all but two townships had been dissolved due to lack of population or lack of annexation by other townships into which they had merged,[10], Auburn Hills amalgamated with both Livingston Township to form Troy Township on October 15th 1860.[11][12] According to township records it was decided that name change would commemorate General David Dixon who fought for United States during the American Revolution and who later served as governor of Michigan Territory before becoming Senator from Michigan after Indian removal ended in 1830.[13],[14] The new township charter met on October 20th 1860 with Wm Halleck serving as clerk and Ebenezer Caldwells serving as treasurer while John Pritzker served as auditor
