The history of ammunition in Ann Arbor, Michigan dates back to the 1860s when various immigrants brought firearms and ammo with them when they arrived in the city. The first store in town was opened by George H. Clardy in 1869. Ammunition sales continued to grow throughout the 1870s as residents began shooting off fireworks at night and needed a safe way to store their munitions. In 1878, John Ladd opened the first gunsmith shop in town and began manufacturing rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. In 1905, Simeon Ewing started importing ammunition from England and soon began selling rounds for handguns as well. Many Ann Arbor residents were impressed with Ewing's products and he became one of the area's leading manufacturers of ammunition. In 1916, Armour & Company opened its doors for business and quickly became one of Ann Arbor's most popular suppliers of firearms, ammunition and other related supplies. Over time, Armour & Company grew into one of the largest ammunition providers in the area with stores located throughout downtown Ann Arbor as well as several outlying locations including Mount Pleasant Township (today’s Mount Pleasant), Albion Township (in today’s West Bloomfield Township) and East Stroudsburg Township (now part of White Eagle Township). During World War II, many local businesses turned their properties into military storage areas to accommodate troop movements through town during that war. Ammunition production remained high during World War II thanks to heavy demand from both American soldiers on leave withinAnn Arbor as well as Japanese nationals who had purchased large quantities of munitions during that conflict. After the war ended in 1945, production slowed down due to an economy hard hit by wartime restrictions on imports not only from America but also from Europe. In 1949 Ann Arbour became home to Eastman Kodak Company when their Rochester facility closed down following their purchase by GEICO Corporation. In 1957 Earthlink Inc., then part of Time Warner Entertainment Services Inc., moved from Rochester to what is now downtown AnnArbor after purchasing adjacent land from Kodak parent New York Telephone Company

He named his land "Shaw's Township." In 1835, he sold his township to George Hays for $10 per acre (0.30 m²). Hays donated 5MU ($50) to build a school in town which was dedicated by him on November 3rd 1835. The first building on campus was an old log cabin which served as a schoolhouse until 1853 when a new brick building was erected at Fourth Street and Woodward Avenue which served as both the courthouse and town hall from 1853-1885
