There are many gun targets that have been located in Alpena, Michigan. The first target was a blacksmith shop that was built in 1872. It is now the cornerstone of the Alpena History Museum. The next target was a rifle range that opened in 1903. It has since been demolished and replaced by a new range. In 1916, the United States War Department set up an air-sea artillery battery at Alpena with 180 guns. This event is documented in history books as the "Battle of Midway." In 1933, the Alpena Rifle Range closed due to lack of patronage. However, it reopened in 1936 as a Pistol and Shotgun Range with 5 acres of land. In 1945, another rifle range opened at Alpena called "Alpena Gun Club." It still exists today and offers shooting opportunities for all ages. In recent years, there have been several other target ranges established within or outside of Alpena Township limits including: "Gunners Ridge" target range near Northville; "Hollywood" pistol and shotgun range off US 31 north of town; "Gunsight" rifle/pistol/shotgun training center on US 2 east of town; and "Lake Country Shooting Complex" on Hwy 21 south of town which offer lessons for people from all walks of life from beginner to experienced shooters!
Gun targets are an ideal way to improve your shooting skills. They are simple to make and can be made from a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, metal, or even cloth. The most important thing is that the target is large enough so that you can hit it with any level of accuracy. There are a few things you need before starting: a gun, some cardboard or other material for the target stand, some paint or something to cover the target base (if using plastic), and someissors or scissors to cut the cardboard into strips about 2 feet long. You will also need at least 4-6 inches of space between each strip. If using wood, first start by carving out a small hole in one end of the piece of wood so that the firing pin can go through easily. There should then be a small hole in the top side so that ammunition can enter and exit without touching the ground. Finally, drill several 1/2 inch holes in opposite ends of each strip so that arrows can enter and exit without hitting anything else. If using plastic targets, first create two circles exactly like those on your regular rifle target except they are prepared with spikes sticking out at different angles (see photo). Cut off one end of one circle and glue it to another round object such as a post or old door handle; cut off the other end and glue it around the backside of yourtarget stand (see photo). Now simply place your target on top of these circles and shoot!
Alpena is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Alpena County. The population was 6,561 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing metropolitan area. Alpena has been a center for gun culture since its founding in 1836 as a fur-trading post on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The town became an important firearms manufacturing center after lead ore was discovered there in 1857 and rifle production began in 1871 by immigrant Norwegian miners who named their company "Alpena Rifle Works." The town's role as a center for gun culture continued until it was destroyed by fire on November 8, 1934, during World War II when munitions factories were being built nearby at Mound City and Mount Pleasant.

This growth took place in all areas of the city except for its core downtown area, which experienced only 3% growth between 2000 and 2010 despite being home to over 60% of Alpena's total population! Downtown Alpena saw 2% growth while portions of Eastside Neighborhoods 1st Ward (east side off I-94), 9th Ward (southwest corner off I-94) and Northside Neighborhoods 2nd Ward (northwest corner off I-94) grew more than 10%. In fact, not a single neighborhood experienced less than 5% annual growth from 2000 to 2010! In other words, if you live anywhere within walking distance of any part of downtown Alpena – whether it’s east side or west side – you experienced at least some amount of economic development over that time period! Despite this impressive statistic, many people across southeast Michigan are concerned about what will happen to their neighborhoods if downtownAlpena continues to grow at such an incredible rate? If downtownAlphenar grows too much faster than surrounding neighborhoods we could see negative consequences such as loss of character or decrease in property values – both which would have serious implications for residents who rely on those communities for support income. In order to ensure that our neighborhoods remain vibrant and economically prosperous over time we need to continueto invest into infrastructure including new streetscapes and sidewalks; adding more public transportation options; increasing funding for community policing; creating jobs through businesses or cultural attractions; investing in green infrastructure projects like rain gardens or irrigation systems;and encouraging homeownership opportunities within our communities so that everyone can benefit from economic growth

The origins of the gun target can be traced back to Captain John Appleton, who designed them in response to a request from the US military. When first created, these targets were simple affairs, consisting only of an iron frame and a series of small holes drilled into it. appleton’s projectiles could travel up to 100 yards and he was able to hit objects at up to 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers per hour). Over time, however, the design of gun targets changed considerably. For one, larger guns became available which made it easier and more efficient for commanders to hit their targets accurately with artillery. Additionally, technological advancements allowed gunners to create further complex designs that incorporated features such as moving parts and animated characters. Finally, the early 20th century saw the development of machineguns which made it possible for commanders to hit large numbers of objects with relatively little effort. Today’sgun target designs continue to reflect this growing trend – they are increasingly sophisticated and expensive but also extremely fun and challenging to use. Alpena is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan, lying on the banks of the Rouge River. It was founded in 1868 by German settlers and became an incorporated city in 1903. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census, up from 5,711 at the 2000 census. Alpena is part of the Kalamazoo-Port Huron metropolitan area. The Rouge River forms most of Alpena's eastern border and its eastern edge extends into Lake Michigan. Its western border is formed by US-2, which turns south near downtown before entering stateland to join M-1 (MICHIGAN HIGHWAY 1). The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Michigan were Germans who had followen fur traders across the Great Lakes region for centuries prior to settling in what is now northeastern Michigan and southeastern Ontario County. In 1828, Friedrich Wilhelm Dürrenmatt discovered land that would become Alpena Township on July 4th 1796 while searching for a new route to Catharine Island through rapids on the St Clair River system; he named it after his mentor Johann Gottlieb Dörrenmatt (1762-1837), who had explored much of this area during the French occupation of America during their North American Expeditions of 1794-1800. In 1868, when Alpena was founded as a result of German settlement east of Saginaw Bay on Kipps Landing Creek by John Klingler and his brothers Julius Klingler and George Klingler (1814-1886), Kipps Landing Creek served as both village site and millstream because it lay between two large tributaries flowing westward from Lake Superior: Wabash River tothe north and Rouge River tothe south; accordingly, Kipps Landing Creek became known as "Alpena's Elk." In 1903, when Alpena incorporated as an city under State law following passage of Act 2190 (Chapter 66), it adopted its present name based upon its location within one mile (1 kilometer) of several important transportation corridors including US Highway 2 which ran along its southern border then paralleled Big Rapids Road eastward until just beyond US Highway 26 where it rejoined US 2; also important corridor routes running through or adjacent to Alpena include Ionia Avenue (), Plymouth Road (), Redford Road () and Ottawa Street (). Incorporated within City limits were business districts with plazas located at intersection addresses Main Street/South Center Boulevard/East Side Boulevard/Washington Street (); these districts developed primarily around manufacturing plants operated by local companies such as Can Am Industries Inc., JBL Mining & Manufacturing Co., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Midway Coke Refinery & Paper Mill etc.; however commercial development did not stop at municipal boundaries but proceeded out into rural areas including portions surrounding Muskegon Heights () until well after World War II when those areas came under control either directly or indirectly by various military command posts situated there such as Camp Upton (). After World War II ended aluminum production shifted away from copper smelting towards aluminum smelting facilities located outside Greater Lansing due largely to subsidized federal agricultural research programs initiated by President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1944 entitled The Agricultural Research Service; however copper production continued until discontinued circa 1970 despite predictions that aluminum would eventually take over due au higher value per pound produced compared to brass products.. Alpena was founded in 1837 by the Mackinac brothers, who named it for the mountain peak outside of town. The first settler in Alpena was John J. Cook, who arrived in 1839. Cook ran a ferry across the Straits of Mackinac to bring goods and passengers from St. Ignace to Detroit. In 1847, Andrew Jacksonappointed George Stephenson as its first postmaster, and development began around the new storehouse on State Street that year. By 1860, there were over 50 businesses in Alpena with a population of 350 residents. In 1865, Alpena became part of Michigan Territory and soon developed into one of the most prominent cities in that territory. It remained an important center of commerce and industry until World War II when manufacturing declined due to wartime shortages. Afterward, Alpena experienced a resurgence as a cultural and educational center while struggling through some difficult times such as being mentioned once again as one of Michigan's " Bottom Five" communities by The Chronicle Of Higher Education Today, Alpena is home to many small businesses along with several large employers including Alliance Steel Corporation (ASE) which manufactures steel products; Orion Technologies LLC which manufactures lasers and other light technology; Schlumberger Limited (SLB) which engages in oil exploration and production; Ann Arbor Glass Company (AAC) whose products include window glass
