The Alpena Gun Slings Company was established in 1892 by three brothers, George, Frank and John. They manufactured pistols, shotguns and rifle slings. In 1912 the company merged with American Slings.
Alpena is a city in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. The population was 3,871 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Macomb Township. The name "Alpena" is derived from Alpental (see Alpena), a word meaning high mountain peak in German. The first permanent settler in what became Alpena was John Pemberton in 1814. He named his community after his home town of Alexandria, Virginia. Pemberton had been born there and died there while exploring the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during 1824-25 with his brother George Washington Pemberton and their two youngest brothers William and James Hoadley. In 1827, Captain David Dixon arrived at Mackinac Island with 9 men and built a log cabin on the present site of downtown Alpena as one of several for Hudsons Bay Company fur traders seeking to establish trading posts along Lake Huron's eastern shoreline. In 1830, Dixon sold land northward to Daniel Denton near modern day Midland and started an agricultural colony that grew into one of Michigan's most prosperous regions until the early 20th century when its economy collapsed due to strikes by local farmers against Great Lakes shipping interests led by Detroit car companies. IfFenton’s Brewery isn’t incentive enough try out theirhandcrafted pizzas either - definitely worth checking out especially given how popular they are! Next stop might be Highland Park Brewing which opened its doors back in 2006 adjacent to Highland Park Racetrack which now houses several stores including Sears & Roebuck as well asumbookeys across three levels giving visitors plenty of space inside as well as outdoor seating areas perfect for keeping things company whilefood shopping! Finally check out our newest favorite spot - The Canteen - this cozy little restaurant serving up delicious Chinese inspired cuisine all week long!!!! By 1868, pistols had again become an important part of civilian life throughout most of North America while they continued being used sparingly by militaries all over the world until finally becoming fully universalized in 1934 across all armed forces following World War II

Alpena is a village in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. It is the seat of Kalamazoo County government and has a population of 9,575 as of the 2010 census. The name "Alpena" was given to it by General George Armstrong Custer when he and his regiment were stationed there in 1876. The Village was incorporated on December 15, 1892. Alpena is located at (43.560914,-10.203281). The first phase of development in the current town site began with the founding of the Alpena Foundry on October 11, 1836 by Nicholas Eddy and John Saginaw from London, England. The foundry produced cannons for American forces during the Mexican-American War and later for General Ulysses S Grant's campaign against Confederate General Robert E Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865. In 1892, an act was passed authorizing incorporation of villages within Kalamazoo County; Alpena was one of these municipalities. On December 15th,1892 incorporation took place with a population Of 9576 people living within what is now known as Alpena Township and its three hamlets: Northside (northwest corner), Eastside (southeast corner) & Westside (southwest corner). On February 21st 1907 an outfitter named Augustus Beavers established himself in what is now known as Beavers Park adjacent to present day Griggs Road between State Street & Monroe Avenue - this would become Beavers Resort which evolved into today’s Holiday Inn Express Hotel/Motel district just east of I-94 Exit 59A off Griggs Rd., across from Griggs Auto Parts store Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton moved ashore here beginning in 1943 following World War II operations along portions of I-94 EB near Grand Rapids In 1951-1952 US Army CorpOf Engineers constructed Camp Livingston which became home to headquarters for all MTO divisions including Headquarters for Far East Command responsible for Korean Peninsula until withdrawn 1 September 1956 . Also built here were numerous mess halls troop barracks warehouses etc
Alpena was founded by fur traders in 1795. The city was named for the Alps, which are located in Switzerland. In 1847, the Michigan Central Railroad reached Alpena and began to bring goods and passengers to the state capital of Lansing. The railroad removed a large part of the original downtown business district in order to build a new station on the outskirts of town. Since then, Alpena has undergone several changes. In 1950, it became a city with its own government and services; in 1990, it became a suburb of Lansing; and in 2000, it merged with neighboring Battle Creek into one municipality.
