The first Europeans to visit what is now Allen Park were French traders in 1699, and by 1701 French missionaries had established a mission there. In 1812, General Andrew Jackson made it his headquarters during his campaign for president; he named it after General John Allen who led American forces against Mexico in 1812-14. The town was platted in 1837 by Samuel Ogden Wright as part of the " Townships of Dearborn and Allegany." In 1847–48, construction began on the Mackinac Bridge over the river Rouge which connected Michigan City with Troy and other towns in Huron County. When completed, it became one of the most important transportation arteries in Michigan; traffic crossed it for almost 100 years until its replacement by Interstate 75 in 1957 caused major problems for local businesses and residents along its route (see below). On July 3, 1913, President Woodrow Wilson issued an executive order authorizing creation of a new county within Oakland County to be known as Wayne County; this was done because Cass County was then being formed from parts of Macomb and Wayne counties (it formed on December 15 that year). This order created much confusion since no one knew how to spell "Oakland" so they just called it Wayne County instead. The first post office at Allen Park opened on November 12th 1911 when mail arrived from Detroit via rail from Lansing through Holland Patent Station on May 5th 1912(the name changed to Lansing on October 26th 1912). Mail continued to arrive here until mail delivery ceased permanently due to World War II! Dearborn Heights Cemetery opened up across Saginaw Boulevard from First Baptist Church on September 20th 1906 which served as cemetery until 1953 when all deceased citizens were moved into Forest Lawn Cemetery near Detroit proper!

With General John Pemberton's purchase of land from the Hurons near present-day Allen Park, Detroit became one of America's "western posts." The site chosen for what would become Allen Park was on a bend in the Missaukee River where farming operations were especially profitable due to its abundant water supplies. The first settler in what would eventually become Allen Park was Pietro Maggiore, who arrived in 1814. In 1827, Augustus Arbuthnot donated land along Cass Corridor north of today's University Avenue to establish a town square that would house public buildings and be accessible by foot or horseback from all over town. By 1830, nearly 200 people had settled within what would eventually becomeAllenPark; many were farmers looking for an opportunity to cultivate new land while still keeping a sharecropping operation active. The Town Square development did not take off as planned because residents were unwilling to give up their privacy rights within their own townsquare; they instead desired more centralized government services which they felt could be better administered through Mackinac Island (present-day Midland). This wasn't until 1835 when Mayor Nathaniel Hawthorne convinced township clerk Amos Elston to open up government records office space at Town Square so that citizens could communicate better with their local officials without having to leave their homes or go outside for assistance. When Township Treasurer Levi Coffin died suddenly in 1847, his thirteen year old son Jacob took over his father's role as township treasurer and proceeded to do an excellent job despite some challenges including being sued by two businessmen who claimed he misused company funds - an event which helped spur Penobscot Township into forming its own government department four years later! In 1850s township officers continued serving three-year terms rather than being elected every two years like those currently occurring within Macomb County; this decision was based on advice given by then-Superintendent James Wirtz Jr., who believed that township officers should only have one term maximum before retirement so that they can maintain a close relationship with the community they serve! During Prohibition some alcohol sales occurred but overall no legal transactions took place because drinking was considered socially unacceptable among many Americans at this time! In 1949 Lyman Ganser purchased 3 percent interest in Armour Paper Merchants Incorporated which later became Ganser Paper Company after merging with other paper companies across Michigan during the early 1950s!!
