In the early 1860s, a group of farmers in Allen Park began to build a small log cabin on their property. The first home was built in 1871 and was known as the Old Farm House. In 1876, the family of James W. Fuller built a new large farmhouse on the property which became known as the Fuller House. Over time, other families also moved into and owned homes in Allen Park because it was an isolated farming community with few amenities. In 1903, John Hildebrandt purchased land adjacent to what is now Prather Drive in Allen Park from J.H. Fenton for $1,000. He started building a mansion called "The Manor" which turned out to be one of the most luxurious residences in Michigan at that time. The Manor remained in use until it burned down in 1928. The following year, Neely Condon bought 2 acres of land east of present-day Prather Drive for $4 per acre from John Hildebrandt and began construction on what is now known as "Condon Place". This area would become one of the most thriving neighborhoods in Allen Park due to its close proximity to shopping and services available within walking distance. In 1935, Condon donated his entire estate - including his house - to the city of Detroit for use as municipal property. Today, Condon Place is a highly popular destination for residents and visitors alike because of its unique architecture and rich history
Allen Park is a city in Iron County, Michigan, United States. The population was 41,567 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Iron County after Battle Creek and Ferndale. The first settlers in what is now Allen Park were the Niles brothers. They started a small farm on the east side of town in 1825 and named it "Nile Township". In 1837, they donated land to the town for its cemetery and school district. Another early settler was John Pillsbury. He built a house on what is now Washtenaw Street in 1836 and named it "Pillsbury Township." When he died, his wife gave his land to the town for schools and a common meeting place. In 1859, David Woods bought 1/4 of township from Niles Brothers for $100 cash. He named it "Woods Township". After purchasing more land within the township, he formed an agricultural society with other farmers to raise crops and sell them to merchants. This organization later became known as "The Michigan Agricultural Society". His heirs sold most of their holdings in 1861 to Jno Ewing for $3,500 cash which made him one of the largest landowners in Allen Park history. In 1863, Samuel Haughey purchased 3/8 of township from David Woods for $75 cash. He renamed it "Haughey Township". After purchasing more land within the township, he formed an agricultural society with other farmers to raise crops and sell them to merchants but this organization later became known as "The Michigan Agricultural Society" because only men could be members at that time (unlike today where membership can be open to anyone). His heirs sold most of their holdings in 1865 to Aiken & Weston who made him one of biggest landowners still living today* Aiken & Weston also developed much around here including: The Soo Line Railroad's right-of-way through Townships 2 (and 4), First National Bank building located just south of Grand River Boulevard on Kettel's Corner Road; The parklands along Ionia Road west of Grand River Boulevard between State Route 906 (now US 131) and Veterans Memorial Parkway; many homes built by Haughey family members during late 19th century; new shopping center opened up along Ionia Road between Veterans Memorial Parkwayand Kettel's Corner Roadcalled Maple Leaf Shopping Center which has been home primarily since 1978

The area that is now Allen Park was part of the Potawatomi Nation until they were forced to cede their land to the United States in 1821. The first settler in what is now Allen Park, John Price, arrived in 1825. In 1830, Captain John A. Richardson moved from Indiana and established himself at a place known then as "The Bottom." He soon developed a large farm there which he named for his home state of Michigan - allen park was born! In 1834, George Stephenson built the first railway line through Michigan andAllen Park became an important stop on that route. It wasn't until after World War II when the area started to grow rapidly with new development that it received its current name - Allen Park was given its current appellation based on its location on a bend in the Kawkawa River within easy driving distance of many major Detroit neighborhoods. Today, Allen Park is one of the most vibrant communities in Metro Detroit with a rich history dating back to less than 100 years ago! Its proud residents continue to make an impact on their community by working hard and contributing value to it both through their personal lives and through their collective actions towards common goals.
