Washington's home in Alexandria, Virginia. Woburn has been governed by a board of selectmen since 1692; its current mayor is Marty Walsh. The first post office in Woburn was established on December 3, 1798, under the name "Wyoming". The first U.S. mail route between Boston and Worcester ran through Woburn until 1876; it continued to be served by stagecoach trucks until 1922 when it was joined by the present Route 128 highway. The first store in town opened on November 8, 1800; it was called "New Market". In 1830 Samuel Morse moved his machine shop from Northampton to start work on his new nationwide telegraph line; this made him one of the earliest entrepreneurs in America and led to his nickname "the inventor of voice communication." Worcester College (now William & Mary) opened its doors on October 14th, 1831 as one of two colleges in Worcester County open to men only; other institutions opening during this time included Brown University and Wesleyan University which would both become national universities later that decade In 1850s several businesses started up here including: The Alms House Tavern which still exists today as an American restaurant/bars chain-owned by six generations of families-founded by Joshua Addison Triplett-and many more such examples over time can be found online or even within walking distance if you know where to look! Oneoses Brothers also had a tannery here for years before moving into their own tannery complex just east of downtown now known as Nathan’s Palace Tannery located off Exit 309 exit onto Route 128

On December 15th, 1787, the Constitution was ratified by all thirteen states and it became effective on January 1st, 1801.
