It is home to the Westfield Armory, which was built in 1786 by General John Jacob Astor and his son Henry. In 1792, three months after the Boston Tea Party occurred, a group of men from Westfield went on a robbery spree in Watertown. One of these men was Samuel Adams who used this opportunity to steal two guns and ammunition from an arms dealer named Mecom.
