Today, Winchester Arms Corporation continues to produce rifles with pistol-gripstocks within the United States and internationally.

The town's namesake was General Israel Putnam, who fought in the American Revolution and later served as a United States Senator from Massachusetts. In 1837, the town became part of Springfield Township. In 1917, Springfield Township was renamed to West Springfield. The present day West Springfield is a densely populated city with over 100,000 residents.
West Springfield is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 14,502 at the 2010 census. The incorporated town of West Springfield dates back to 1824. The area now called West Springfield was part of the original Connecticut land grant to Harvard University. In 1837, the town began to be chartered as a village under the name "Wadsworth". The first settler in what would become West Springfield was Ebenezer Richardson who bought and built a small cabin on what is now Elm Street in 1824. A few years later he and his wife moved into a larger cabin on Chestnut Street which they named "Richardson Hall". On July 4, 1830, Ebenezer Richardson and his family were instrumental in founding the town of West Springfield when they voted to incorporate as a village. That same year, west of present day Elm Street (now State Road 7), two lots were donated by Captain John Eliot for $100 each; one near Wadsworth Pond and one near Tanner's Well. In 1838, Reverend Samuel Adams founded First Congregational Church in West Springfield with nine members. Reverend Adams also erected the first schoolhouse in West Springfield which served students through public schooling until 1903 when it was replaced by the current building on Monument Avenue which still serves as their primary school today. In 1840, Wm Higginson settled down east of present day Elm Street along with his family and started growing corn on his farmstead known as "Higginson Hill". From this point forward until after World War II there was scarcely any change occurrring within East Hartford or West Springfield other than names being changed or new businesses coming up such as K-Mart (later Sears) beginning operations at 1st & High Streets soon followed by Jiffy Lube hardware store at 2nd & Main Streets before finally becoming Dick's Sporting Goods at 3rd & Main Streets prior to its current location inside Fenway Park since 1916! On October 15th 1870 fifty men from Norwich went overland from New Britain via Hartford bringing with them four saddles and bridles worth $25 each that had been given to them by President Ulysses S Grant during his visit there two weeks earlier! This event is commonly referred to as “The Traveling Saddlers” because not only did these men bring some of our earliest consumer goods onto American soil but they also demonstrated how railroads could provide easy access both east-west and north-south throughout New England! During World War I many people left their homes behind for military service including five children born into military families – all serving during World War I: Alice (1917), Harry (1918), Clifford (1920), Joanie (1922) – all became nurses while others worked odd jobs supporting their families while they attended war bond drives or served in uniform! After THE WAR ended many people returned home making Wayfair their new headquarters located just south of where we stand today off Route 256 just inside East Hartford’s borders! West Springfield is a small town in Massachusetts, located on the west side of the Connecticut River. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town began as a scattering of farms and hamlets on the east bank of the river after Congress passed an act in 1786 authorizing settlement along the Connecticut River. The area now includes West Springfield proper and portions of neighboring towns Centerfield and South Hadley. The community grew quickly due to its location near two major rivers, access to water power for irrigation, and good transportation options for goods and people. In 1814, a tavern called "The Lion" became one of the first stores in what would become West Springfield. In 1836, John Cushing opened his store at 5 Main Street which became known as "The Cushing Store." In 1892, Abraham Lincoln's funeral was held in West Springfield; local residents helped clean up following his death that same year. That same year also saw construction begin on what would become Union Station; it opened in 1893 and remains one of West Springfield's most popular tourist attractions today. In 1916-1917, World War I affected West Springfield deeply with many soldiers stationed there while they were fighting overseas. Many buildings were damaged or destroyed during that time including several churches which remain standing today including St James Episcopal Church (now Holy Cross Catholic Church). Following World War II however - when commerce increased significantly around New England - businesses quickly reopened andWest Springfield flourished as a center for manufacturing arts and crafts until 2000 when economic conditions deteriorated dramatically across much of New England resulting in massive layoffs throughout much of Worcester County. After years of struggling to keep up with other communities within walking distance from their homes, residents decided to sell their businesses to developers who built high-end apartments within walking distance instead giving rise to what is now known as "The Village". Inexpensive housing developments have since replaced much older homes grown over by trees & flowers & filled with lead paint & asbestos among other hazards resulting in significant environmental damage which has recently been addressed through city-sponsored restoration projects
