The post-war years saw dramatic growth for West Springfield; development occurred along two major arterial routes (Upton Road and Route 128) that linked Boston with other large urban areas across New England. This rapid growth has led to some challenges including increased traffic congestion on major streets and highways within the town limits as well as occasional increases in property values due to recent developments outside of town limits such as Windham Hill Park%.
