Waltham, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. the population was 21,868 at the 2010 census. The name "Waltham" is derived from "wicca", meaning "dwelling place." The first permanent settler in Waltham was Nicholas Kimball who arrived in 1638. In 1763, John Winthrop became the first governor of New England and appointed Andrewidas Winthrop as town magistrate. In 1798, Waltham Joined with other towns in Middlesex County to form the new Province of Massachusetts Bay. After the American Revolution, Waltham sided with Great Britain and lost its charter as a town on July 1st 1801 but regained it on October 15th 1802 when Rhode Island seceded from the United States. On January 1st 1803, Waltham became a part of what is now Boston Township (MB). The population began to grow rapidly after railroads were built through Middlesex County and businesses opened up for people to better trade with Europe. By 1870, there were over 10 businesses in downtown Waltham and 25% of all jobs were located within one mile of where someone lived or worked. In 1840s-1850s there was significant construction activity happening in downtown by local builders including Holmes & Clark which created many buildings that still remain today such as Stuyvesant High School and First Baptist Church (now Christ Episcopal Church). This development led to an increase in traffic congestion on Broadway which at its peak during these years would cause delays of 30 minutes or more while cars backed up along Elm Street near Central Park! Many residents chose to emigrate during this time as opportunities for work and income improved elsewhere outside of Boston due to land acquisitions being made available eastward such as Quincy MA., Worcester MA., West Springfield MA., Fall River MA., Lynnfield MA., Natick MA.) prior to 1850 inclusive. During World War II there was significant growth taking place in nearby Addison Square due housing shortages caused by war production needs throughout Greater Boston area; however most notably around Market Street where brick warehouses had been constructed resulting in dense concentration of buildings that have continued into present day despite efforts by city planners to redevelopment them over the years using both public/private funds and private developers’ own resources)

Waltham, Massachusetts is a town in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 15,569 at the 2010 census. It is the largest of the towns in Suffolk County and one of its three municipalities. The other two are Scituate and South Hadley. Waltham is home to Harvard University. The first settlers in what is now Waltham were farmers who came from Hubbardsville, Pennsylvania in 1723. They named their new town after Sir John Winthrop, an English statesman and leader of the Mayflower Compact who had come to America as a part of that group. The original town site was located on the east side of present-day Central Square (now Allston). In 1735, several more families moved into what is now Waltham from Harwich Township near Ipswich due to good soil conditions and cheap labor costs for farm hands around that time. By 1740 there were over 100 families residing in what became Waltham proper with a total assessed valuation of £2,000 ($3,500). In 1803–1804 Congress passed an act providing for independent government within each township within Suffolk County; this act became law on July 1st 1804 when Governor Jonathan Trumbull signed it into law. Soil exhaustion along the southern border of Townshend Common caused by heavy planting led to increased development along the northern edge where roads were built connecting Farmington with Lynnhaven (then called Northampton) through Haverhill and Needham – these roads remain today as portions of Route 128 and Interstate 5 respectively. On October 5th 1814 during battle between Ulysses S Grant’s army at Lexington and John Brown’s rebels at Harper’s Ferry some residents took up arms against Ulysses S Grant’s forces resulting in three men being killed including Samuel Morette who later wrote “A People’s History Of The American Revolution From Independence To Civil War: A Narrative And Statistical Account Including A Sketch Of Our Colonial Relations With Great Britain & Ireland etc., Being An Attempt To Promote National Unity And Prejudice Against Those Who Would Divide Us” which was published posthumously Edited by Newton Compton Forrester Thayer 1886 pg 334-337 It should be noted that this pamphlet also includes evidence refuting allegations made against Major General Nathan Bedford Forrest regarding his involvement with treasonous activities such as raiding federal property throughout Virginia On November 16th 1814 while under orders from General James Longstreet Checkered Flags flew from local homes across town warning citizens not to cross road near fortifications manned by Confederate soldiers – this order appears to have been ignored however five days later on November 20th four civilians were shot dead by Federal troops ReloadedLibrary
Waltham was founded by Nicholas Stone in 1638 as a small town on the banks of the River Wachusett. The town grew rapidly and by 1823 it had become an important manufacturing center for cloth, hats, shoes, furniture, and other goods. In 1828 Waltham became a city and has since grown into one of the largest cities in Massachusetts.
