Revere is a town in Massachusetts which is best known for its warships, Revere Beach, and the Revolutionary War-era battles fought there. The town was founded by Puritans in 1634 and was renamed after John Winthrop, an Englishman who came to America as an indentured servant in 1630. Revere became a part of the United States in 1776 and has experienced many waves of immigration over the years, including Italians, Poles, Irish, Germans and Japanese. The current population of Revere is around 26,000 people. The town was first settled on Cape Cod’s mainland by settlers from England in 1634. The first mention of Revere comes from Nicholas Raynard who wrote about it in his book “A Voyage to Falmouth” which took place in 1635. In that book Raynard writes about a group of people who went out into the ocean to find land because they were not able to get permission from their government to settle on land that belonged to other people. When they found no land available on Cape Cod they decided to move inland so that they could start their own town. They named their new town after John Winthrop because he had been instrumental in getting them permission to come to America. There were only a few hundred Puritan settlers living in Revere when it was founded but within a few years more than 1,000 people had joined them. By 1700 there were still just under 100 residents living here and most of them worked on farms or did small jobs for the larger towns nearby. However, as the Revolution began things changed quickly for Revere; within weeks of Boston being sacked by British soldiers several hundred Puritan men had gathered at the beach where they built two ships – one called HMS Providence (later HMS Enterprise) and another called HMS Bunker Hill (later USS Bunker Hill). These ships would be used during the Revolution as transports carrying troops and supplies between Britain and America. In addition local men also started construction of warships using scavenged materials left behind by fleeing British forces: PCL 2 (later USS Constitution) while Plymouth built HMArty 4 (later HMS Sandwich). One important reason why Plymouth chose to build warships rather than aircraft carriers or cruisers during World War II was due toRevere’s strategic location; located midway between New England ports serving both Great Britain and North America – making it very easy for Allied commanders ashore either supply munitions or launch attacks against targets ashore without having Toppenish airfieldsblocking visible ranges for torpedoes or artillery fire etc.. REVERE BEACH - One kilometer long wide sandspit formed largely by demolishing ancient cliffs exposing submarine cables laid down when sea levels were much lower before shorelines rose 11 meters since then! Revere is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield–Southbridge, MA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Revere's history dates back to 1636 when John Winthrop arrived from England and founded the town on an island in Buzzards Bay. The first settler was Nicholas Fitch, who arrived in 1638. In 1795, Revere became a part of Massachusetts and was incorporated as a town by act of the General Court. The first mayor was James Bowdoin. The present day Revere Village began settlement in 1814 with the purchase of land from Nicholas Fitch's grandson Daniel Fitch for $2 per acre (1/4 manor). The village has been inhabited since 1814 and its early growth can be traced back to that year when Samuel Bowdoin offered 2 acres of land for AOA ( agricultural organization) building and improvements within the limits of what would become today’s Revere Village. By 1825 there were over 25 small stores and 50 dwellings including 5 frame buildings still standing today! In 1827-28 Reverend Ezra Eaton built a school house which served as the nucleus for what would become Revere High School; it opened its doors on October 26th 1830 under Mr. George Ripley’s guidance as Headmaster & Principal; until his retirement in 1865 Drury became Principalities Superintendent [of Schools]. Many fine public schools have been erected or rebuilt through out our community during its long history; among these are: Mrs Pickering Elementary School (1896), First Congregational Church (1929), Mrs Pfeiffer Middle School (1963), Stonington Intermediate School (1966), William Sibley Jr./Mrs Sibley Senior Intermediate School (1969) & finally our current facility - Revere High School - opened September 9th 2002!
