In 1916, during World War I, a munitions plant operated by Bethlehem Steel Corporation was built on land now within the boundaries of present day Quincy Market neighborhood; adjacent homes still standToday Quincy Market is home to several large businesses including Macy’s department store and Amazon Kindle Store
