Quincy also developed strong links with Harvard University and Massachusettes Bay Colony (later Suffolk County). A local paper mill closed down during World War II but reopened afterwards as a peanut butter factory; it closed again during the late 1990s but reopened briefly in 2018 after being out of business for many years.
