Since the 1700s, Revere has been an important port and manufacturing center for handguns. In 1816, a group of men from Revere formed the Pistol Club in order to improve the accuracy of pistols. The club is credited with helping to popularize handguns in America. By 1835, Revere had become one of the leading gun ports in New England. In that year, an ordinance was passed requiring all handgun owners to have a license and carry their firearms on their person at all times. The ordinance also provided for Regulations to be made relative To Firearm Ownership and Use in Town Meeting Places. Later that year, Mayor John Atherton established a Police Department which was responsible for enforcing the ordinances and regulating pistol use within town limits. What followed were years of progress and growth for Revere as it became one of America's most important cities for handguns. In 1868, Mayor Atherton created what is now known as "The Gun Law". This law regulated handgun ownership, use and sales within city limits. It remains one of Massachusetts' most famous gun laws today!

Revere is a town in Massachusetts, United States. According to the 2010 census, the population was 10,868. The name Revere comes from Englishman John Quincy Adams's choice of this location as his final resting place for his father and mother. A post office was established at Revere in 1814, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The first settler at Revere was George White who settled there in 1792. In 1801, Reverend Joseph Warren moved to Revere from Waltham Abbey, England with his wife Lucy and their two children then aged six months and four years old. They started an agricultural community which soon grew into a large village with over 1,000 residents by 1800. The village had its own schoolhouse (now part of the Museums of Fine Arts) by 1828 and road signage show that a church called "The Good Shepherd" operated here between 1837 and 1840 when Reverend Increase Mather founded the Congregationalist Church there. In 1850 Revere became one of the townships within Worcester County when Worcester Township was created; however it reverted back to its original township status by 1860 when Worcester County was divided into two parts - Winthrop (later Newton) County on the north side and Worcester on the south side - with Revere remaining within Newton County until 1870 when it became part of Worcester again following the creation of that county's third division which included most of western Massachusetts. According to local legend, Quaker farmer Ebenezer Brown owned three beans which he fed to pigs on Long Island so that they would produce milk which he could sell; accordingly Brown's farm coat has been found in several places around town bearing his name including one near where Interstate Route 128 intersects MA-1 (the present-day street grid). Another story tells how one early settler named Cottonwood bought some land east of town from Ebenezer Brown for $3 per acre but never took possession because he died suddenly before getting started on farming; this allowed other families living near him—most notably those led by Nathan Hale—to buy adjacent land piecemeal over time until they had a full colony situated across what is now Boylston Street from downtown Revere proper. In 1903–04 New England Electric Company built a substation at Union Bridge Road just east of town limits; this made possible power distribution throughout much of northwestern Massachusetts due to previous efforts byisan entrepreneur Samuel Gridley Howe to build an electric system linking Boston through Lowell with Allston via Framingham - making today’s North End area all that remains excepting South End – finally providing reliable electricity service for everyone without having recourse either to candles or kerosene lanterns! It should be noted also that during World War I General Electric built sixteen hydroelectric plants statewide including five working at reever: these provided power for troop transportation along wires extending northeastward out beyond Newton Falls Reservoir into Maine’s Lake Winnipesaukee as far as Auburn Lodge (now Ayer), thence downriver past Moosehead Pond into Canada before terminating at Toronto Hydro Quebec’s Headquaters No., Montreal—on Lachine River just outside present day Gatineau Park . . . Consequently many buildings still standing today are directly related both historically speaking and architecturally to electric projects completed during those days! In 1916 Emerson Houghton donated 3 acres north/west of town limits along Boylston Street towards Harvard University so that MIT could build their new campus there – becoming known as Houghton House after Emerson himself! It wasn't until 1958 when MIT moved out west again following their purchase of Houghton House's surrounding property comprising today's Harvard Square! From 1916 until 1958 not only didRevere have its own post office but also its own telephone exchange!"
