In 1824, Revere residents George and Anna White bought a blacksmith shop on the corner of Washington and King Streets. The Whites continued to run the business until 1875. In 1892, they sold the business to John H. Parker, who ran it until 1912 when it was purchased by Amos Noyes. From 1912-1918, it was operated by Gifford Pinchot as a research station for Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester). Noyes sold the company to Ethelbert Sibley in 1918. Sibley kept the name Winchester Repeating Arms Company for about 15 years before selling it to Edwin Averill Cooke in 1934. Cooke made many improvements to the company including moving its manufacturing base from New Haven, Connecticut, to Revere. In 1945, Winchester Repeating Arms Company merged with Remington Firearms Corporation (Remington) which became one of the largest firearms companies in America.
Revere is a town in Massachusetts, United States. It is located on the north side of Cape Cod and shares boundaries with Ipswich to the south, Beverly to the east, Marshfield to the west, and Salisbury to the north. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It lies within District 3 of Boston. The first permanent settler in Revere was John Winthrop in 1636. In 1781, Revere became part of Suffolk County when it was created from parts of Middlesex and Norfolk Counties. The town's charter was granted on December 24, 1791. The original name for Revere was Valleyborough until 1814 when it changed its name to Orwell after General Josiah Ortelius (1727-1802). In 1825–26 two brothers named Amos Morse and Alfred Vail built a sawmill on Mill Pond which processed lumber from local forests for shipment downriver to New England mills. This mill operated until 1877; however, residual logs still remain present today as part of the mill property known as Morse Landing along with a few buildings dating back to that time including a dam used for power generation during prohibition days in 1936-37 by then owner First National Power Company (FNP) A post office called Orwell opened in 1825 and remained in operation until 1830; it was renamed Revere after Colonel John Quincy Adams (1795-1845), an opponent of slavery who served as Secretary of State under President James K Polk (1846-1912). A store opened at 5 Beacon Street in 1830 which became known as "Adams' Store." It closed around 1870 but reopened as "Reed's Hardware" about 1880 before closing again around 1900 due to economic reasons. A grocery store opened at 271 High Street about 1840 which became known as "Goudreau's Grocery." It also closed around 1870 but reopened about 1880 before closing again around 1900 due to economic reasons. Two churches were founded nearby: First Parish Congregational Church at 186 Perry Avenue built c 1830 by Reverend Abijah Greenough and reorganized into Congregationalism 1862; and Second Parish Episcopal Church at 163 High Street built c 1865 by Revd Nicholas Stiles and reorganized into Episcopalism 1912 In 1875/6 Ralph Waldo Emerson visited Revere with his wife Hannah Moreau while they were living near Nahantporton Point on Martha’s Vineyard where he had been appointed Professor of Poetry at Harvard University . He published his book “ Essays Moral , Political , & Literary” here among others several weeks later In this connection Mr Emerson mentioned that he had seen Plymouth Rock lying upon its beach opposite Nahantporton Point – now Mystic Beach - whence he derived his idea for building a church upon that point next door thereto .. After some further thought he submitted his plan for what eventually became “Exeter Unitarian Society” whose services began soon afterwards on July 6th next following .. They met monthly during those early years inside Mr Emerson’s house.. At length there came into being too many members inside one place so Mrs Emerson applied herself more nearly exclusively externally towards effecting their objects by founding an Institute* .. Today Exeter Unitarian Society meets annually outside their meeting house adjacent to Exeter Park through programming from various organizations within Reason Overheard

Revere is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 6,911 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Revere's history goes back to 1636 when Captain John Winthrop and his family moved from their original home in Saybrook Colony to a small farm on the present-day site of Revere. The Winthrops were among the first English colonists in North America. The first store in Revere opened in 1727 and was run by Samuel Adams. In 1828, Reverend Wigglesworth purchased land northeast of Revere and built a large frame house which he named "Wigglesworth House". He served as pastor of the First Congregational Church there from 1830 until his death in 1853. Reverend Wigglesworth's wife, SARAH (Dorothy) Harned JONES taught Sunday school at that church for many years before her retirement in 1957. Mrs. Jones is buried there with her husband near his final resting place; they are also commemorated on Revere's Pioneer Monument located just east of town off Route 3A (Fenway Park). In 1862, General Ambrose Burnside ordered General Josiah Quincy to move his headquarters from Cambridge to North Attleboro because he felt that Confederate forces were weakening around Worcester MA and within range of New York City proper should they decide to attack that city directly rather than go through Boston or other strategic points closer to home. Quincy complied but decided against expanding into what became known as the "New England" region due to lack of support from higher up command—a decision later regretted by many Patriots as it allowed Confederate forces access to key supplies undefended while Yankee forces fought numerous battles farther west near Albany and Troy NY leading ultimately to Union victory at Gettysburg four years later despite severe casualties among both sides including General Quincy’s own son! Afterierce died childless children followed him into adulthood including one daughter Ellen who married Augustus Raymond Childe III (1863-1946), an American banker and politician from Peru who served as Mayor of Providence RI from 1920-24 and United States Ambassador to Japan 1925-29; Together they had two sons: Arnold Raymond Childe IV (besides wife Ruth Childe Sheldon born 1938) who also served as Peruvian Ambassador during Reagan’s presidency; Everett John Childe (1948-) currently serving as Managing Director - Corporate Affairs & External Relations - TD Ameritrade plc., since its establishment 1990 - President Emeritus US Business Administration Association]]. Colonel Harold GILLESPIE commanded 1st Battalion 6th Marines Regiment during World War II]], killed Apr 8 1945 beachhead Okinawa ]], highest decorated Marine Corps officer]].
