Quincy, Massachusetts is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 11,811 at the 2010 census. Quincy is nicknamed "The Hub" because of its position as the business and media center for the greater Boston metropolitan area. Quincy began as an early colonial settlement on the south side of Harvard Common in 1638 by Puritan settlers from New England. The first clear evidence that Quincy existed can be found from a survey of Cambridgeport township dated March 1, 1639 which recorded "Quincy". The name Quincy likely comes from the Winnisquamet River which flows through the village today. The Winnisquamet may have been named for Sir John Winniscombe who purchased land near present day Quincy in 1634-35. In 1736, Reverend Samuel Smith surveyed part of modern-day Quincy along with Watertown (now Worcester) and North Adams (now Amherst) under the direction of Colonel David Dudley.[2] The first settler in what is now Quincy was Amos Wright who arrived with his family in 1641[3]. He built a small cabin on an existing swampy lot next to wherepresent day Middleborough stands. Wright's house still stands and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places[4]. One account claims that when Captain John Smith discovered Massachusett Bay during his visit to Boston on July 24,1637 he sailed towards what is now Quincyshire Sound calling it "Wright's Harbor".[5] This account may be based upon oral tradition or inaccurate history since there were no Harbors then nor are they currently located withinMassachusetts coastline. At any rate, this discovery marked one of America's earliest maritime discoveries[6], pavingthe way for future commerce betweenBoston and coastal areas including Rhode Islandand Maine. After some yearsof growth due to immigrants coming from Scotland,[7] Dutch traders started arrivingInQunicy around 1700 with their shipyard at present day Hull Beach [8]. By 1800 they had acquired over 100 acres (40 hectares)[9], making them one of America's largest landed estates[10]. They later sold their estate back to Plymouth Congregationalists in 1812 but kept some assets such as their shipyard until 1856 when they donated itto local schoolchildren as part of Alford School District No 9 nomination forms filed with US government.[11] Some important events surrounding this time include: John Fonda taking office as MayorofQuincy on October 7th1875; completionof First Transcontinental Railroad thru Quincyshire Valley; incorporationof cityofWatertown into stateofMassachusetts on January 14th1891; mass planting& harvestingOFruit&veggieson May 20 & 22nd1892 resulting in establishmentofthefirst commercial vineyards intheUpper Great Lakes region

This case history discusses how two different companies, Winchester and Browning, came up with the design for the Soft Gun Case. In 1922, both companies merged and created American Arms Corporation which continued to produce Soft Gun Cases until 1985 when they were discontinued due to lack of demand.
