The town was incorporated as a village in 1802. Quincy became a city in 1868. In 1921 Quincy annexed part of neighboring Weston which had been its agricultural center for over 100 years. In 1965 Quincy voters approved an ordinance annexing part of East Windsor into the city limits; this annexation created what is now known as East Windsor/Westchester County. Quincy is located about halfway between Hartford and New York City on Interstate 93 and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification "Cfa"). The average temperature during summer months ranges from 66 °F (19 °C) to 79 °F (26 °C). Winter sees temperatures range from 32 °F (−0 °C) to 37 °F (−3 °C). Quincy has two football stadiums: Fenway Park which hosted baseball's Red Sox from 1903 until 1923 and Municipal Stadium which hosted American football's Green Bay Packers from 1923 until 1951 before they moved to Lambeau Field. Quincy also has one secondary school: Whitney Academy which serves students grades 7 through 12th grade; one post office; four general stores; one bank; one gas station; three churches - all Protestant denominations although there are no Catholic services offered in Quincy - all with full or partial day school options for children K-12th grade along with various summer programs for adults including art camps and music festivals throughout the year

Quincy, Massachusetts is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. Quincy has been inhabited by the Wampanoag Tribe of Indians for over 3,000 years. The first white settlers in what is now Quincy arrived on ships from England in 1630 and began to explore the area that would eventually become Essex County. In 1764, Captain Samuel Dexter landed on the Winnipesaukee River in what is now Quincy and named it after his patron saint – Saint Anthony of Padua. The settlement soon grew into a small village with a population of about 100 people. In 1812, President James K. Polk sent an expedition under Lieutenant Colonel John Brown to explore the area that would eventually form Maine and find new land for the United States. On July 20th, 1812 while exploring Buzzard's Bayou northwest of Quincy, Brown stumbled upon an aboriginal site called Musket Mound which he interpreted as being 10 miles (16 km) long and up to 6 feet (1 m) high. This discovery marked the beginning of American exploration of eastern North America and also led to much debate among Americans about whether or not Native Americans were living near present-day Quincy. After determining that there was no evidence to support this claim and further exploring Buzzard's Bayou, Brown returned home with his findings on July 25th – this time returning safely! The following year in 1813 Lieutenant Colonel John Smith explored Buzzard's Bayou again which led him to believe that it may be even longer than previously thought at 10 miles (16 km). A year later in 1814 Bostonian scientist Josiah Warren discovered saltpeter ore near what is now Watertown MA when he walked across Musket Mound Creek bedding which had been disturbed by earlier European explorers! This discovery helped spur development in early Quincy as Saltpeter became one of town’s leading sources of income during its early years…a fact that many still remember today! In 1893 residents voted unanimously to name their community Quincy after General David Hunter who had commanded American forces during World War I & II; Governor Abner Stephens; Congressman Sumner Welles; Mayor George Peabody; Commodore John Duryea & Rear Admiral Nathaniel Hawthorne - all memberships included within Rockland County! It wasn’t until 1942 when Quaker pacifist leader Meetings Quarterly Meeting decided against naming their community after any public figures due to its connection with WWII service members – finally giving way to our current name: “Quincy” honoring General David Hunter (& many others)! Todayquincymaans continue their proud history by celebrating both historical events as well as holding cultural events throughout the year including music concerts/fairs/picnics etc….the list goes on!
