Many of these gunmakers continued making firearms until shortly before World War I when they switched their operations over to manufacturing munitions for the war effort. The production of firearms here ceased shortly thereafter due to wartime constraints. However, some remnants of this historically important firearm industry still exist today thanks to Peabody's ongoing Manufacturing process that uses traditional methods like hand forging and injection molding techniques.

Peabody is a town in Ware County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Peabody is one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts and first settled by English colonists in 1638. The town was originally known as Pecheboden and changed its name to Peabody in 1793 after Rear Admiral David Peacock who had helped found the town. The current town center was platted in 1828 and named for General John Quincy Adams, 2nd President of the United States. The first settler in Peabody was Captain Samuel Maverick who arrived on July 6, 1638 from Ipswich, England with his family. He built a small cabin near what is now Main Street and called it Metcalfe's Hall (later renamed Park). By 1641 there were nine families living in Metcalfe's Hall: five men, four women and two children under 10 years old. Captain James Pembroke arrived soon afterward with his family on October 3rd from Stepney Village (now Borough) northeast of Boston along present day Route 128 . He also built a small cabin which he called Pembroke's Plantation (later renamed Arlington). In early December 1642 Captain Pembroke married Mary Whitechurch from Brookline . They had three children: Samuel (1643-1701), Joseph (1645-1702) and Martha (1647-1711). The next year on December 15th Captain James Pembroke and his wife Mary came down with an illness that caused them to stop working on their plantation until they recovered however they did not live long enough to see their settlement platted out. On January 1st 1643 all nine families living at Metcalfe's Hall moved into what is now Northampton Street where they called themselves "New metropolis". In April divers fathers brought home some cattle especially swine since there were no other settlers nearby to take care of them however when they got there they saw that the land around their house already belonged to another family so they returned home without taking any new land or cows! There may have been some retaliation because many people throughout New England were stirred up about this particular situation? It wasn't long before these kinds of stories made it all the way back home to England where some pretty heated debates took place! Anyway by late summer/early fall [1644] most of them decided it would be best if they just left for good but three couples stayed behind including Captains James Pembroke & Mary’s brother Thomas Whipple who became known as “the father” afterwards Also staying behind were Mrs’s Benjamin Westfall & Deborah Mead Johnson who would eventually become Plymouth Colony Witches! On September 9th following a decision made by Captains JamesPemberoke & Mary Whipple regarding whether or not to stay put some more while others Came overland with 1700 acres(!) we received word that our Friends at Wenham had taken up Arms against us!!! We began packing our goods up quick as we knew we wouldn’t be able to support ourselves much longer…. Aftermath showing us how things worked out….. A well fought battle ensued between us & THEM resulted in 3 casualties among OUR OWN People!!!! Our heart bleeds still every time I think back about it today!!!!!!!!!! We lost 11 men Killed + 4 Wounded plus 50 Cows which was totally unexpected due to their previous assurances that none would go!!!!! We did manage to keep ALL OUR HOUSES…….. prospering somewhat tho….. From then forward until 3 months ago today everyones title within our limits has been given according TO THEIR DUTY NOT BY ACCORDANCE WITH THE TIME THEY FIRST ENTERED PEABODY BUT BY THE TIME WE RECEIVED NEW INFORMATION FROM WENHAM ABOUT THEIR ACTS OF WAR AGAINST US!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THAT IT’S ALL OVER…………………we can finally begin rebuilding………………………………………. REALizing just how grateful WE ARE THAT NO ONE WAS KEPT DEAD OR INJURED!!!!!!!!! Thank you God for your Mercy

Peabody, Massachusetts is a town in the Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Peabody was incorporated as a town on April 14, 1834. It lost its charter to become an incorporated city on December 15, 1934. The name "Peabody" comes from Plymouth Company's captain John Peabody and his son-in-law Sam Adams who both came from this town in 1630. In 1795 the legislature passed a bill providing for election of representatives to committees established by the General Court; but this measure did not take effect until 1811 because no one had registered to vote in that year. In 1800 there were only 83 inhabitants in Peabody; by 1810 it had grown to 1,848 residents according to the census enumeration taken that year. At first Baptists conducted all religious services in their private homes; but soon Methodists and other denominations also began to meet Hereford School (now Harvey Mears Elementary School) which opened on November 10th, 1819 with twelve students and three teachers - Rev Samuel Eliot Davenport being its first teacher. A school committee was appointed in 1830 with Wm Higginson as chairman; indictments were brought against him for teaching without proper authority within two years afterwards and he resigned from office after conviction; but these prosecutions did nothing towards checking Methodism's rapid growth hereabouts. In 1840 there were 946 residents in Peabody while only 8 miles away at North Attleborough there were 2,751 people! During the American Civil War 1861-1865 most of Peabody sided with Great Britain while North Attleborough seceded and formed itself into a separate county called Attleboro County! The post office at Peabody started operating on October 6th 1837 under postal code 01902! On July 3rd 1861 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated while traveling through Worcester County with his family so many people took up arms against slavery including John Purdy who organized “Abraham Lincoln’s Volunteer Corps” which fought Confederate forces during the war! Aftermath: over 400 men died or been wounded during fighting associated with abolitionist cause across America World War I saw an increase of housing development due largely to soldiers returning home having liberated many slaves however whenopaques started popping up all over wartime areas they quickly spread around USdue mostlyto GI gangs peaking voraciously around 1919 & 1920 then slowly diminishing throughout late 20th century
