Newburyport, Massachusetts is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 6,076 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston metropolitan area. Newburyport is one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts and its first settled in 1630. The town was chartered on November 3, 1630 by Colonel John Winthrop as part of what would become the Colony of Plymouth. Captain Samuel Maverick served as its first mayor and inaugural meeting took place at the home of Mr. Nicholas Faneuil on North Beacon Street. The town's first official document was a charter from King Philip II dated October 15, 1631 which granted to the town "certain parcels of land lying upon the south side of Narragansett Bay". In 1636-37, Newburyport became one of three towns in Plymouth County to petition for independence from England; along with Portsmouth and Woburn (now Somerville). On July 10th that year, they submitted their petition to King Charles I; it was not accepted until December 2nd when he signed an act giving them "a Liberty to build houses for ... their sd selves" within 100 feet (30 m) square abutting upon public property known then as "the Necklace." In accordance with this right they erected two Meeting Houses - one on Center street near present day Middleboro Road and another located at what is now Wellesley Avenue east of Hennepin Avenue. On March 17th, 1768 a band together consisting mostly menaged families set forth from Newburyport under Captains John Butterfield and Israel Putnam bound for Worcester where they intended to lay down their arms against Great Britain under General Gage only later finding out that Gage had been betrayed by his own officers leading to his capture and eventual execution at Bunker Hill. Aftermath many men who had taken part in butterfield’s march went back home sick or died including Captain Butterfield himself after weeks long journey being forced through harsh weather conditions finally arriving safe but barely alive at Worcester Pennsylvania less than two weeks after leaving Newburyport

In 1888, The Sporting Life reported on the use of safety goggles by riflemen at a military game in England. By 1897, The Bulletin had reviewed over 100 experiments with various types and styles of shooting glasses and found that “the best type for using firearms is one having a thin lens with well-defined ridges running along its surface opposite each other on either side – these ridges being adapted to fit snugly around the frame of the spectacles so as not to cause them to move about or be easily knocked off during firing” (Wright 1979). Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (GMA) developed standards for shooting glasses in 1951 following a meeting in New York City between representatives from IAOPA and AMA (Morse 1959). These standards were later updated and adopted by NRA as part of their Uniform Standards for Shooting Glasses program in 1954. At that time, there were only five manufacturers producing complete models of shooting glasses: Hennig, Browning & Co., Smith & Wesson, Blount & Richardson, and Savage Arms Company (Fletcher 1960). The development and proliferation of automatic rifles led to an increase in shootings where people could potentially become casualties if they did not have adequateeye protection. Automatic fire often results in debris flying intoeyed individuals who may not have time or opportunity to remove their protective gear; even those who do have time may not be able to properly protect themselves due to their inexperience with firearms. One study showed that out of 361 accidents involving automatic weapons reported between 1980-1986, 54% were caused by lack of eye Protection at the scene(Larimer et al 2000). ThisStudy also found that outpatients who sustained injuries from gunfire while wearing SAFE eyewear experienced significantly less medical care than patients who did not suffer any injuries(Larimer et al 2000). Safety goggles became increasingly important as more automatic gunfire became available which made it difficult for perpetrators or bystanders alike to shoot accurately without hitting someone else unnecessarily. In 1764–65 British General George Washington led his army through Plymouth County during his famed "Boston Tea Party" expedition against British forces at Bunker Hill and Horse Island. On April 19th he reached North Beach in present-day Quincy before turning northeastward towards Patriot's Point on Long Head Island where he orders his troops to set fire to tea chests found there before withdrawing back upriver unharmed. In 1847 Congress passed an act authorizing appropriations for coastal defense purposes; this led to development along both coasts of Martha's Vineyard into towns such as Southold (founded 1848), East Lyme (1851), Mashpee (1859), Waterford (1873) and Wellfleet (1925). With its strategic location near freeways connecting Boston and Worcester MA., Newburyport quickly became one of major industrial centers in southern MA., while also becoming home to several large universities including Brown University (1926), MIT(1935), Tufts University(1945) and Northeastern University(1978). The city annexed neighboring Wellfleet in 1923 following a referendum vote by all residents over whether or not to secede from neighboring Mashpee Village which had been established as a separate town about two miles away from downtown NewburyPORT since 1851 In recent years much heavy industry has moved out of Providence Park across Route 1A into new factories located just outside town limits along I-495 between Exit 221M/US 129W &Route 128E - making it difficult for pedestrians or cyclists access these areas without taking significant detours or getting lost inside mile long company borders
