In 1937,a new type of binocular called an air-cameras was invented. An air-cameras used an elastic band to hold it in place on your eye while you photographed or filmed something with it.

Newburyport is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 26,754 at the 2010 census. Newburyport is part of the Boston metropolitan area. It lies on the southern shore of Mystic Lake and has a rich history dating back to 1630 when it was one of the first towns in what would become Massachusetts. The town began as an agricultural village founded by Puritan settlers in 1630 on land that now includes much of downtown Newburyport. By 1800, Newburyport had developed into an important commercial center with markets throughout the region and its own shipbuilding and lumbering industries. Its nickname "The Harbinger of America" comes from its role as headwaters for the Mystic River and as a major transportation junction between Boston and other parts of Massachusetts. In 1837, following extensive construction work led by Mayor Tappan Zwillingsfeld, Newburyport became an incorporated city under state law. The city's growth accelerated during World War II as wartime demand for munitions increased dramatically; after 1945, Newburyport became known for its large military installations including Naval Air Stationboise (now Hollis Air Force Base). In recent years, however, some efforts have been made to revive the city's economy by developing new housing developments outside of downtown; most notably the redevelopment project called "New Visions". The name "Newburyport" first appears in 1633 when John Winthrop built his house there on land he had bought from Puritan settler William Bradford. The town was first known as part of Ipswich until 1714 when it became its own parish. Newburyport's largest industry has always been shipping, which has led to its nickname "The Shipping Capital of America". Many large companies have their headquarters here including Wabash Cannon Company (now Omnicom Group), Boeing Corporation, Boston Beer Company, Kraft Foods Inc., Jardine Matheson & Co., Brown Shoe Manufacturing Company and many more over the years. Today Newburyport retains much of its maritime history with many interesting sights such as USS Constitution Museum (the oldest active U.S Navy ship) and USS Perry Museum (the only warship ever moored at Fenway Park). There are also several restaurants and cafes associated with maritime history; most notably Sailors' Mews restaurant which serves seafood dishes inspired by vessels afloat during Revolutionary War times such as lobster bisque or scallop soup served à la mode with donuts andocolate cake - all while aboard one of Boston's biggest sailing ships which calls itself The Floating Palace II!

The town experienced some growth during the American Revolution, when many of its residents helped to fight against British forces.
