Following years of turmoil and conflict within our community managed to bring about some progress through bold decisions made by select members of our community including Governor William Weld and Mayor Lisa Martino culminating with passage of two bills designed To address key issues facing our town: One sponsored by Representative Tom Foley (D-Worcester) entitled “An act relating thereto” resulting in $5 million being designated for neighborhood revitalization while Secondsponsored by Representative Joe Courtney (D-Boston) entitled “An act amending section 527a” increasing funding available for drug treatment programs within county jails resulting in an overall increase of $10 million being allocated unto countywide programs thereby improving public health & preventing crime
