In 1906, Methuen became the site of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The academy moved to New York City in 1912 and then to Arlington Heights, Illinois after World War I. In 1922 the academy relocated again to West Point until it closed in 1969. The faculty of the United States Military Academy at West Point manufactured firearms for use by American military forces from 1847 until 1969.

On November 5 they set out from Plymouth with their just over one hundred passengers aboard the "Mayflower" for what would be more than three weeks sailing across open ocean before finally landing on December 2 at Cape Cod near present-day Framingham On arrival at Plymouth they encountered harsh weather which delayed their departure for nearly two months until late January 1625 when better conditions allowed them to continue their journey northeastward alongshore rather than risk being blown away by strong winter gales off Cape Cod Bay. After reaching Falmouth on January 20 they sailed northwestward under full sail for unknown destinations but eventually made landfall at modern day Provincetown on February 3rd where they disembarked their passengers and stores for provisions before continuing northwestward under sail through thick foggy weather to cape Elizabethbehough where they anchored for the night onFebruary 4th In March They continued northwesterly around Cape Ann into open water whereupon severe gales forced them ashore near present day Wareham February 7th whereupon all but two crew members abandoned ship during a stormy night only to be saved when another ship arrived reinforcements four days later After spending four days refittingeworthy at Wareham Courthouse before setting course back north againthey reached modern day Boston February 19th having covered a distance of more than 1,000 miles without encountering any obstacles or difficulties
